Recycling firm Gravita India net profit grows 31% to Rs 59 cr in Q2

Recycling player Gravita India has posted a 31 per cent jump in consolidated net profit at Rs 58.84 crore during the quarter ended September 30, pushed by higher income. It had clocked Rs 44.98 crore net profit during the July-September period of the preceding 2022-2023 fiscal year, the company said in a regulatory filing on Tuesday. The company's total income surged to Rs 850.31 crore in the quarter under review, from Rs 689.61 crore in the year-ago quarter. Its expenses were at Rs 783.31 crore in the September quarter of this fiscal, as against Rs 639.43 crore a year ago. Jaipur-based Gravita is a leading recycling company with 11 manufacturing facilities across the globe having total capacity of 2.51 lakh MTPA.

Govt earns Rs 117 crore from scrap disposal during cleanliness campaign

An impressive revenue of over Rs 117 crore has been earned by the Centre from scrap disposal during the ongoing cleanliness campaign, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said on Tuesday. In addition, office space measuring 32.54 lakh square feet have been cleared and made available for use after clearing the junk, he said. CSIR's first battery recycling pilot facility commissioned in Jamshedpur

The National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML) on Saturday said it has commissioned the first Battery Recycling Pilot Facility of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research at Jamshedpur to extract critical metals such as Lithium, Nickel, Manganese and Cobalt. It encompasses 1 Ton per day (TPD) battery dismantling and cathode material separation setup, apart from the integrated large-scale hydrometallurgical facility for extraction and separation of those critical metals, said the NML, a constituent establishment of the CSIR, in a statement. Batteries contain chemicals and metals and their dumping attracts environmental concerns due to contamination of water and soil. EPR for circular economy in discussion to incentivise recycling: official

To promote a circular economy and reduce waste, the Indian government is discussing the use of policy instruments like Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) to incentivize recycling, a senior mines ministry official said. Under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 2030 initiative, the Ministry of Mines and the Ministry of Steel have issued recycling frameworks aimed at developing the recycling sector using advanced technology to achieve resource efficiency and carbon neutrality. Recycling company Vikas Ecotech on Wednesday said it plans to raise Rs 100 crore through qualified institutional placement (QIP) route. The proceeds from the QIP issue, which opened on May 31, will be utilised to expand its business and fund working capital requirement, the company said in a statement. A proposal in this regard was approved by the board of the company at its meeting recently, it said. JK Tyre & Industries on Tuesday said it has developed a passenger car radial tyre with 80 per cent sustainable, recycled and renewable material.
