Goa BJP, ally praise interim budget, CM calls it 'balanced'
The BJP and its allies in Goa Friday praised the interim Union budget for 2019-20 which was presented in the Lok Sabha by Finance Minister Piyush Goyal. Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar called it a "balanced" budget while Goa Foward Party president Vijai Sardesai called it one that would take the country forward. "A balanced budget that will uplift every section of the society & further stimulate India's economic growth, Farmers, poor, middle class & youth are all set to benefit from #BudgetforNewIndia. Budget 2019: Govt proposes pension schemes for unorganised sector
The Government on Friday proposed to launch a mega pension scheme called 'Pradhan Mantri Shram-Yogi Maandhan' for the unorganised sector workers with monthly income upto Rs. 15,000.While presenting the Interim Budget 2019-20 in Parliament, Union Finance Minister Piyush Goyal said, "Half of India's GDP comes from the sweat and toil of 42 crore workers in the unorganised sector. The government must provide them comprehensive social security coverage for their old age. Therefore, our government proposes to launch a mega pension scheme namely 'Pradhan Mantri Shram-Yogi Maandhan' for the unorganised sector workers with monthly income upto Rs. 15,000."Elaborating on the scheme, Goyal added, "Scheme shall provide them (worker) an assured monthly pension of Rs. 3,000 from the age of 60 years on a monthly contribution of a small affordable amount during their working age. MHA gets Rs 1.03 lakh; emphasis on border infrastructure, police modernisation
For the first time, budgetary provisions for the Home Ministry has crossed the Rs 1-lakh crore mark and is pegged at over Rs 1,03,000 crore for the next fiscal, with special emphasis on improving border infrastructure of police forces. The ministry has got Rs 1,03,927 crore for 2019-20 which is 4.9 per cent more than Rs 99.034 crore given in 2018-19, according to the budget papers. The Delhi Police, which maintains law and order in the national capital, has been allocated Rs 7,496.91 crore while Rs 2,000 crore has been allocated for the development of border infrastructure, amidst tension along the Indo-Pak and Sino-Indian borders. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), which is engaged in anti-militancy operations in Jammu and Kashmir, the Northeast, and often deployed for internal security duties, has been allocated Rs 23,742.04 crore for 2019-20, in comparison to Rs 22,646.63 crore given in 2018-19. Budget 2019: Increase in tax exemption limit gets thumbs up
Union Finance Minister Piyush Goyal's proposal to increase the income tax exemption limit to Rs 5 lakh in the interim Budget on Friday got the thumbs up from people.Sanjay Patel from Mumbai told ANI: "This is really good. Assam govt admits scholarship distribution scam; CID probe on
The Assam government Friday admitted that a scam has taken place in distribution of pre-matric scholarships to minority students and the investigation has been handed over to the CID. In a written reply to a query by AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam, Welfare of Minorities Minister Ranjit Dutta said in Assembly that already five persons have been arrested for their involvement in the scam. Dutta said that a scam has taken place in the scholarship distribution scheme for the students belonging to the minority communities. The minister, however, did not share details such as the size of the scam but said that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Assam Police is carrying out the probe at present. "The investigation is being carried out taking into account all the districts of Assam. Govt launches pension plan for informal workers
The government Friday announced a new scheme to provide unorganised workers with up to Rs 15,000 monthly income an assured pension of Rs 3,000 per month after 60 years of age. The plan is expected to provide social security to 10 crore labourers. This will attract matching contribution of Rs 100 per month from government as well as from workers.
