At least 29 people sustained injuries in a fire that broke out at a refugee camp located in the northwestern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) on Saturday.The incident occurred shortly after dawn at a refugee camp in the city of Velika Kladusa, reports Xinhua.Ale Siljdedic, the spokesman for the regional Interior Ministry, said that the injured were taken to the hospital in Velika Kladusa and the neighbouring city of Bihac for treatment.The exact cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained. However, local media cited unofficial sources as saying that the fire was caused by human negligence.Further investigation into the incident is underway.About 5000 migrants from Asia and North Africa entered Bosnia this year.As many as 3800 of them live in refugee camps.
Tunisian authorities were on Saturday stopping 75 migrants saved at sea from coming ashore, according to a rights group and the captain of the ship which rescued them. The migrants were adrift in international waters in a boat with a broken engine when an Egyptian tug boat brought them aboard, the captain said on condition of anonymity. A police constable allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with a service revolver in Kotputali area here, police said Saturday. Sanjay Kumar was on patrolling duty on Friday night when he committed suicide, said Circle Officer Kotputali Dinesh Yadav, adding Kumar was suffering from depression due to family problems. A fire in a shelter for migrants in northwest Bosnia on Saturday left 32 people hurt either from burns or injuries after they jumped from windows to escape the flames, authorities said. The blaze broke out after dawn in the privately-run facility in the town of Velika Kladusa, said Ale Siljdedic, spokesman for the Bihac regional interior ministry. "The fire has been put out, 32 migrants have been injured," some of them after jumping from the second floor, Siljdedic told AFP, adding the blaze was "doubtless" due to an electrical fault. A fire on Saturday engulfed a migrant center in northwestern Bosnia, injuring 32 people, police said. The blaze erupted early in the morning in the center in Velika Kladusa, which hosts some 500 migrants stuck in the Balkan country while trying to move toward Western Europe.
