East Bengal will take on Mohun Bagan on September 2 in the 2018 Calcutta Football League Premier Division 'A' for this season's first derby, it was announced today. The other two marquee fixtures between East Bengal vs Mohammedan Sporting and Mohun Bagan vs Mohammedan Sporting will be held on September 9 and September 16 respectively. All the three matches will be held at the Saltlake Stadium. East Bengal, who had won the competition last season for a record 39th time and eighth on the trot, will kick off the local league taking on Tollygunge Agragami on August 3. Mohun Bagan and Mohammedan Sporting will begin their season on August 4 and 5 against Pathachakra and Food Corporation of India respectively. The BCCI will bear the entire cost of the cash-strapped North Eastern states' Ranji Trophy debut, which has been mandated by the Supreme Court-appointed Lodha Committee, a couple of whom will play their home games at neutral venues due to lack of infrastructure. It has been reliably learnt that Sikkim and Arunachal do not have grounds that will match up to requirements of first-class cricket and will play at neutral venues in neighbouring states. The BCCI will be providing all the six states with their accreditated NCA coaches, physios and trainers (men's, boys age group, women, girls' age group). Normally the BCCI units pay for their support staff but for NE states, the parent body will make an exception. "BCCI has assured that all the state teams will be provided with coaches. The Indian Olympics Association (IOA) issued directions to all sports federation and athletes asking them to follow the 'no need policy' ahead of the upcoming 18th edition of Asian Games.In a letter to all the participating federations, IOA made it very clear that they should ensure that prescribed medicine carried by the teams does not contain any World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) prohibited substance.The directions further read that the players should keep the prescription of a licensed doctor with them.During the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, a seasoned India boxer was found to have breached the no needle policy after a used syringe was recovered near the room of the boxer.Under the no needle policy, needles are required to be stored in a central secure location, access to which is restricted to authorised medical personnel of the Commonwealth Games Federation (CFA) delegation.
The railways is exporting six DEMU train sets manufactured by the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai to Sri Lanka, Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain said today. In DEMU (dieselelectric multiple unit), a diesel engine drives an electric generator which produces electrical energy. Each such set being sent to Sri Lanka consists of 13 coaches, totalling 78 coaches for six sets, he said. Speaking in the Lok Sabha, the minister noted, "These DEMU sets are equipped with state-of-the-art three phase AC-AC propulsion system, superior suspension and superior interiors". Gohain said the government has also extended a Line of Credit (LoC) to various countries for funding railway projects to export the rolling stock manufactured by Indian Railways. Some of the countries benefited by this line of credit are Bangladesh, Myanmar, Angola, Sudan, Senegal, Mali and Sri Lanka.
