Unrealistic to expect seamers to play all five Tests: Broad

They are coming back from long lay-offs and England team management, which is concerned about the workload management of James Anderson and Stuart Broad is mulling to rotate the duo during five Test series against India. At the back end of their careers, 36-year-old Anderson took a six-week break to get rid of his shoulder injury while 32-year-old Broad had limped off during a county match earlier this season. "It will depend on tosses, pitches, workloads. If (there are) two Tests of 250 overs in the field each, it's unrealistic to think your seam bowlers will play five Tests in six weeks. But if you have a Test, where you bowl them out in 80 or 60 overs, that changes your thinking," Broad told reporters during an interaction. "If the pitches turn square and the spinners do a lot of the work, you might not bowl so much but come on when the ball starts to reverse swing, so sometimes your workloads can be higher if it is green and nibbling," Broad added. The senior speedster also ...

Neymar admits exaggerated reactions at World Cup in ad

Neymar used a sponsor's ad to admit he exaggerated some of his reactions after being fouled during the World Cup in Russia. The video, published Sunday and broadcast on several Brazilian TV networks, features the striker accepting criticism for the first time and promising to pick himself up. The striker scored two goals in the tournament and was not too disappointing until his team got knocked out by Belgium in the quarter-finals, but fans and players have spoken much more about his theatrics on the pitch, which included dives, rolling and frequent arguing with referees. "You may think I exaggerate. And sometimes I do exaggerate. But the truth is I suffer on the pitch," Neymar said in the ad sponsored by personal care products maker Gillette. Since Brazil's elimination, Neymar only spoke about the defeat in Russia via Instagram. In the ad he tried to explain why he did not speak right after the Belgium game, which fostered even more criticism of his behavior at home. "When I leave ...

Johnson fired a six-under 66 for a three-stroke win after starting the final round of the USPGA Tour event at the Glen Abbey course in a four-way tie for the lead. "I really, really hit the ball well all four days," the 34-year-old American said. The win was the 19th title of his career and comes just over a week after he failed to make the cut at Carnoustie. "I just did not score very well at Carnoustie at all," he said. "I didn't putt good. I felt like I hit the ball plenty good enough to be under par after two days, and I was five-over or something. It was just bad scoring." Johnson finished at 23-under 265 on Sunday, finally breaking through in an event he finished runner-up in 2013 and 2016. South Koreans Kim Whee and An Byeong-hun finished second after they each shot 69. They and Kevin Tway were tied for the 54-hole ...

Froome 'still wants' fifth Tour, but Sky have yellow jersey dilemma

Geraint Thomas's Tour de France victory has not dented Chris Froome's hopes of a record-equalling fifth yellow jersey, says Sky chief Dave Brailsford. "He wants to win a fifth Tour, no doubt. He'll be back, it's a part of him and I think he can do it," Brailsford said. Froome, a four-time winner, was hoping to join Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault and Miguel Indurain on an elite list of five-time winners on Sunday. Victory on the Champs Elysees would also have seen the Kenyan-born Briton claim a seventh Grand Tour title and become the first cyclist since deceased Italian Marco Pantani, in 1998, to win the Giro d'Italia and Tour de France in the same calendar year. Yet Froome's efforts in winning the Giro d'Italia last May, and his implication in a long-running anti-doping probe, appeared to become key factors as the normally unshakable 33-year-old's bid went from bad to worse. Froome was only cleared to race by the International Cycling Union (UCI) days before the ...
