Faf's innings showed why experience counts: Dhoni

Experience is worth its weight in gold and that's where Faf du Plessis made the difference with a match-winning knock to guide CSK to their seventh IPL final, here tonight. Du Plessis' 67 off 42 balls enabled CSK to chase down a tricky target of 140 in 19.1 overs after being down at 92 for 7. "Faf's innings, is where experience counts. It's not easy when you don't play a lot of games but I always say you need to train your mind as well. That's where the experience comes in. You visualise what your role is, how you can contribute and Faf has been brilliant," Dhoni said at the post-match presentation ceremony. Dhoni said that one good thing was that they would have had a second chance even if they would have lost. "I am always happy when we win. Being in the top two gives us that liberty to have one more game," Dhoni says. "If we would have lost, you still give yourself a second chance. They bowled very well, and there was a bit in it for the fast bowlers. Bhuvi bowled well, backed up ..

In Seventh Heaven: CSK pip Sunrisers to make their 7th IPL final

South African skipper Faf du Plessis pulled off a 'Houdini Act' to guide Chennai Super Kings to their seventh Indian Premier League final with a two-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in what has been a fairy tale comeback in the cash-rich league. Chasing a modest target of 140, CSK were down in dumps at 92 for 7 before Du Plessis (67 off 42 balls) engineered a stunning comeback and fittingly finished the match with a straight six off Bhuvneshwar Kumar. With 43 needing off last three overs, Du Plessis, who opened the batting, launched into Carlos Brathwaite's 18th over smashing him for 20 runs which included two sixes and two fours. Having done precious little in the tournament so far, the stylish right-hander put his hand up when it mattered most. Siddarth Kaul bowling the 19th over paid for his inexperience in crunch game as 17 runs came off that over as no 10 Shardul Thakur (15 off 5 balls) got three boundaries including a streaky one. Then it was Du Plessis, who finished the .

Ukraine accuses 35 football clubs of match-fixing

Ukraine today accused 35 football clubs of being involved in a match fixing operation than earned organisers millions of dollars a year. Police said two-thirds of all teams in Ukraine's top divisions took part. Neither perennial champions Dynamo Kyiv nor Shakhtar Donetsk were named. "Club presidents, former and current players, referees, trainers and commercial organisations were involved," Interior Minister Arsen Avakov wrote on Facebook. "In total, we have documented the involvement of 320 individuals in 57 proven cases." Avakov said organisers earned up to $5 million (4.2 million euros) a year by making bets in Asia on pre-determined results of Ukrainian matches. Ukraine's deputy police chief Igor Kupranets separately told reporters that no arrests had been made. Kupranets added that prosecutors would decide whether and when to bring charges against the suspects. It was not clear why officials were making the course of their investigation public at such a preliminary stage. The ...

CSK pegged back Sunrisers at 47 for 3 with both Williamson and opener Shikhar Dhawan (0) back in the dugout.
