Takale finishes 6th in Rally of Champions in Latvia

Former APRC Production Cup champion Sanjay Takale overcame challenging terrains in the Latvian outback to finish sixth in the international class in Rally Talsi, also known as the Rally of Champions. The Rally Talsi, third round of the Latvian Rally Championship, traversed through Mordanga, Pastende, Mundigciems, and Strazde regions where the 10 special stages were marked. Driving Ford Fiesta R2 rally spec car prepared by Baltic Motorsprots Promotion, Pune-based Takale clocked one hour five minutes and 09.12 seconds to complete the 10 special stages adding up to 98.94 kilometres. Amritrajit Ghosh finished 39th overall in the 88-car competition. Ukrainian Valerii Gorban won the title in the Mini John Cooper Works car after clocking 49 minutes 12.86 seconds. A new Martial art game, 'Jeet Kune Do', which has been recently introduced to Kashmiri players in Srinagar, has gained a lot of popularity in valley.The game is highly influenced by the personal philosophy and experiences of famous martial art player and artist Bruce Lee.The Kashmir 'Jeet Kune Do' federation has started training cum coaching camp of this martial art game in Srinagar in which scores of players are showing keen interest and those selected will participate in national Jeet Kune Do championship which will be held in coming month of July.Alongside boys, girls too have shown a keen interest in learning and teaching martial arts.The players hailed this step as it will help them in physical fitness as well as well in education levels.Last month, first State Championship of this martial art game was organized in Srinagar.The Jeet Kune Do Kashmiri federation said that in coming July they are going to hold a National event of this game in Kashmir valley.

Bangladesh recall Mosaddek for T20 series against Afghanistan

Bangladesh today recalled batsman Mosaddek Hossain in their 15-man squad for the three-match Twenty20 matches against Afghanistan in India next month. Mosaddek, who has not played T20 international cricket for more than a year, replaces batsman Imrul Kayes for Bangladesh's first-ever bilateral series against Afghanistan in the shortest format. "Mosaddek is a very talented player. He had a bad patch in the middle but we included him after consulting with the coach about his fitness," said chief selector Minhajul Abedin. Six injured, two seriously, in Juventus title parade

Six Juventus fans were injured, two seriously, when a truck they were travelling in during the Italian champions' victory parade struck the electric cables of the city's tramway, according the media reports. The team were celebrating winning their seventh straight Serie A title and fourth Italian Cup in a row with an open top bus parade through the streets of Turin on Saturday night. According to reports, the truck was carrying supporters from one of the team's fan clubs and was closely following the players' bus before becoming entangled in the electric cables of the tram. Six were injured and two will remain in hospital overnight, one being treated for concussion and the other a neck injury. India fail to defend women's ACT crown, lose 0-1 to Korea

India failed to defend its crown at the fifth women's Asian Champions Trophy after it lost 0-1 to hosts South Korea in the summit clash here today. South Korea ket a resolute defence and score the only goal of the match in the 24th minute when Youngsil Lee found the back of the net from a field effort. India's defence was tested in the early stages as South Korea started the game well, winning possession in the midfield and putting pressure on the opposition. However, India defended their lines well and tried to surprsie the Koreans on counters. South Korea had better chances in the first period but the opening 15 minutes ended goal-less as both the teams failed to find an opening. But the Koreans dominated the second quarter and won three penalty corners in a span of two minutes, but Indian goalkeeper Savita made some good reflex saves to deny the hosts.
