Tevez 'feels alive again' on Boca return
Carlos Tevez said he felt "alive again" after marking the start of his third spell with Boca Juniors by setting-up a goal in his team's 2-0 win over Colon de Santa Fe. The former Manchester United and Juventus striker -- who turns 34 next week -- is back at his childhood club after a miserable and controversial brief spell with Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua. Russia suspended from Paralympics, some athletes exempt
Russia's team will be suspended from the Paralympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, but individual athletes will be allowed to compete under a neutral flag, the International Paralympics Committee said today. The agreement is similar to that put in place to allow able-bodied Russian competitors to take part in next month's Winter Olympics that precede the Paralympics. Russia was suspended by the IPC in August 2016 following revelations of widespread state-sponsored doping uncovered in a report by Richard McLaren on behalf of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). After a review, the IPC said in a statement on Monday that "it is maintaining the suspension of the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC)". "However, in recognition of the progress made by the RPC in improving its anti-doping activities, it will allow eligible Russian Para athletes who meet strict conditions to compete in five sports under the name Neutral Paralympic Athlete (NPA)," it said. CABI hopeful of getting BCCI recognition soon
Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) president G Mahantesh today sounded optimistic about getting recognition from the BCCI. "BCCI recognition looks like happening. We heard in media about BCCI wanting to remove blind players' hardships in a week's time," he told reporters here. Committee of Administrators (CoA) chairman Vinod Rai, on January 27, had said that BCCI was working to remove all hardships of blind cricketers. Mahantesh said CABI is grateful to Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Thawar Chand Gehlot for announcing Rs 2 lakh cash prize each for the World Cup-winning members of Indian blind cricket team. Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Daredevils on Monday announced the appointments of two key positions in the coaching staff for the upcoming season of the Twenty20 tournament.Delhi Daredevils Chief Executive Hemant Dua confirmed that former Australian all-rounder James Hopes has been appointed as the new bowling coach, whereas ex-Assam and Railways cricketer Subhadeep Ghosh will take over as the fielding coach.The duo will now join the staff led by Head Coach and former Australian captain Ricky Ponting, who was also confirmed in his role earlier this month.The rest of the coaching staff, however, will continue to be the same with former cricketers Pravin Amre and Sridharan Sriram as assistant coaches.Sunil Valson is the team manager, whereas Paul Close continues in his role as physiotherapist along with Rajinikanth Sivagnanam as the fitness coach.Hopes featured in 84 ODIs and 12 Twenty20 Internationals for Australia, apart from representing Queensland for close to 15 years.

Whistleblower claims Putin ordered state doping programme
Russian whistleblower Grigory Rodchenkov, the source of revelations about Moscow's state- sponsored doping, claims in a German TV report to be broadcast today that President Vladimir Putin ordered the conspiracy. "Of course it came all the way from the top, from the president," Rodchenkov told German public broadcaster ARD in a phone interview, according to a report on the station's website. "Because only the president can deploy the domestic secret service FSB for such a special task," he is quoted as saying in the German-language report. Putin "could not deny" knowledge of the scheme, Rodchenkov adds in the report. Rodchenkov is the former director of the Moscow anti- doping laboratory who fled to the United States in 2016 saying he feared for his life after the sudden death of two senior officials from Russia's anti-doping agency.
