Election battle on as EC issues notification for 17 LS seats in Telangana

Filing of nominations for Lok Sabha polls in Telangana will begin on Thursday as the Election Commission issued notification kickstarting the election process. Polling for all the 17 Lok Sabha constituencies in Telangana would be held on May 13 and counting of votes would be taken up on June 4. Filing of nominations will be accepted from April 18 till April 25 and the last date for withdrawal is April 29. LS polls: BRS complains to EC against CM Revanth Reddy, Telangana BJP

The BRS in Telangana on Wednesday complained to the Election Commission against Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and the state BJP for alleged violations of Model Code of Conduct (MCC)which is in force for the Lok Sabha elections. The BRS submitted separate representations to the EC in this regard. The BRS urged the EC to immediately ban Revanth Reddy from campaigning for the parliamentary elections and initiate an action against him and the Congress for alleged violation of the MCC. Natco Pharma receives warning letter from USFDA for Telangana plant

Natco Pharma on Tuesday said it has received a warning letter from the US health regulator for its Telangana-based manufacturing plant. The US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) had issued eight observations under Form 483 after inspecting the company's Kothur-based formulation facility. The inspection was conducted by USFDA from October 9 to October 18, 2023. "We wish to inform you that the company has received a warning letter dated April 8, 2024 from the USFDA," the drug firm said in a regulatory filing. The company does not believe that the warning letter will have an impact on supplies or the existing revenues from this facility, it added. "It may cause delay/withholding of pending product approvals from this site," Natco Pharma said. The drug firm will respond to the letter within the stipulated timelines and work closely with the USFDA to address the concerns in a holistic and timely manner to ensure sustained compliance, it said. The Congress has announced Kadiam Kavya, daughter of former Telangana Deputy CM Kadiam Srihari, as its nominee from Warangal in the Lok Sabha polls. The AICC announced the candidature of Kadiam Kavya on Monday night. Kavya and Srihari, who is a sitting BRS MLA, joined the Congress on Sunday in the presence of Chief Minister and state Congress president A Revanth Reddy. For various reasons, people are moving away from BRS. So, to serve the people and to do something for the constituency, he will take a call (on joining the Congress party), Srihari had said. Kavya, who was BRS candidate from Warangal, had recently opted out of the contest citing recent allegations of corruption and phone tapping against the previous K Chandrasekhar Rao-led regime. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday attacked the Congress, saying it was 'scared' to promote young leaders and appeared to take a veiled dig at AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge when he said the party was appointing people over 75-80 years. He also said the "dynastic parties" were targeting him as he was exposing their "scams worth several thousands of crores of rupees." Addressing a BJP rally here, he said he never made any personal attack but raised his voice against dynasty politics. The "Congress and its friends" were now abusing him and his 'family'--the people as he was keen to implement the 'guarantee' given to the public. "When I opposed dynasty (politics) as it is dangerous to democracy and prevents new opportunities for youth, they don't respond to that but say Modi has no family," he said.
