Hatsun Agro inaugurates 200th outlet under IBACO brand in Hyderabad

Dairy products maker Hatsun Agro Products has set up its 200th outlet under the premium ice cream brand IBACO in Hyderabad on Wednesday. The store has been set up in Pragathi Nagar, Hyderabad and would offer various flavors including almond crunch, cotton candy, sea salt caramel pecan and Belgian chocolate among others. "IBACO is our brand that started serving ice cream in scoops. We are known for our innovation and out-of-the-box thinking to bring out unique and never tasted before flavours," company chairman RG Chandramogan said. "I am happy that we have reached a milestone with the launch of the 200th outlet," he added. The Chennai-based company has presence in Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Kerala, Odisha, Goa and Gujarat.

Telangana releases Rs 5,809 cr towards loan waiver of 900,000 farmers

The Telangana government on Monday released Rs 5,809.78 crore towards the loan waiver of over nine lakh farmers. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao directed finance officials to pay dues of up to Rs 99,999 per farmer to the banks as per his assurance earlier that 'farmers who took loans up to Rs one lakh (each) would be liberated from debt', an official release said. Accordingly, Rs 5,809.78 crore for 9,02,843 farmers was released on Monday, it said. Despite the problems for the state government in mobilising funds due to COVID-19 pandemic and demonetization, the state government has already paid Rs 1,943.64 crore for 7,19,488 farmers who took loans of up to Rs 50,000, it said. With today's decision, more than 16 lakh ryots benefited in total, the release added. CM KCR on August 2 directed state Finance Minister T Harish Rao and officials to "resume" farm loan waiver from August 3 and complete it by the second week of September.

Total cultivated area in Telangana up from 13 mn to 22 mn acres since 2014

The total area under cultivation in Telangana increased from 1.31 crore to 2.20 crore acres, while paddy production rose from 68 lakh metric tonnes to 2.7 crore metric tonnes during the last nine years, the state government has said. With the implementation of pro-farmer initiatives like free electricity to agriculture, 'Rythu Bandhu' investment support scheme, farm loan waiver and construction of irrigation projects, the agriculture sector has seen rapid progress, it said in a release. In order to fully utilise the water from the Godavari and Krishna rivers, projects such as Sriram Sagar Project flood canal which was left incomplete and Kaleswaram, Palamuru-Ranga Reddy irrigation projects were undertaken. Telangana govt decides to postpone Group-2 exam by state PSC to November

The Telangana government on Saturday night decided to postpone the Group-2 examination, which was scheduled to be conducted this month-end by the state Public Service Commission (PSC), to November. The decision was taken after Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao directed Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumari to consult with the Commission and reschedule the Group-2 exam to ensure that no inconvenience is caused to the aspirants, an official release said. The applicants to the Group-2 have requested the Commission to postpone the exam as several other competitive exams are also scheduled to be held this month. On Saturday, Telangana Jana Samiti (TJS) and other parties held protests demanding postponement of the exam as sought by the candidates.

CEC Rajiv Kumar, T'gana minister named in FIR for alleged affidavit tampering

An FIR was registered against Telangana Excise Minister V Srinivas Goud, after being referred by a Hyderabad court, in Mahabubnagar district for allegedly "tampering" his 2018 Assembly election affidavit, police said on Saturday. While Goud was named as the first accused, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and several other officials have been made co-accused. The court made the reference to police on a private complaint made by a resident of Mahabubnagar. The FIR, registered on August 11, also mentions former Telangana Chief Electoral Officer Shashank Goel and several other officials as accused who the complainant alleged colluded with Goud and closed the election affidavit with no further action required. The matter was referred to the police by the court for trial of criminal cases relating to elected MPs and MLAs in Hyderabad. The complainant alleged that Goud, MLA from Mahabubngar, "tampered" with the election affidavit by suppressing facts.

Apple supplier Foxconn ups its investment proposal in Telangana to $550 mn

The Board of Directors FIT Hon Teng Ltd (Foxconn) approved the investment of USD 400 million in Telangana, V Lee, Foxconn India representative said in a social media post. Taiwan-based contract manufacturer Foxconn is Apple's biggest supplier. "FIT Singapore's proposal to make a capital injection of US$ 400,000,000 to Chang Yi Interconnect Technology (India) Private Limited, which is held by FIT Singapore as to 99.99 per cent of the capital stock," FIT Hon Teng informed the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on Friday. Telangana's total liabilities stood at Rs 3.22 trn by 2021-22: CAG report

Telangana's total liabilities including public debt stood at Rs 3,21,611 crore by the end of the last financial year even as the guarantees provided by the state government was Rs 1,35, 283 crore, according to a CAG report placed in the Assembly on Sunday. The Comptroller and Auditor General report said the total debt includes Rs 6,949 crore, which was passed on as back-to-back loans by the Centre in lieu of shortfall in GST compensation, during 2021-22. "Total outstanding guarantees as on 31 March, 2022 were Rs 1,35,283 crore. Government of Telangana amended the FRBM Act in 2020, duly raising the limit of guarantees that it can provide to various institutions to 200 per cent of total revenue receipts of the previous year," it said. The CAG report further said the public debt and other liabilities showed an increase of Rs 43,593 crore (16 per cent) in 2021-22 over the previous year. The public accounts watchdog pegged the said capital expenditure during 2021-22 at Rs 28,874 crore .

Telangana Guv seeks clarity on bill to absorb RTC staff as govt employees

Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Saturday sought clarifications from the BRS government on a draft bill meant for absorption of state Road Transport Corporation employees into government service. Amid concerns expressed by the TSRTC staff that the bill should be passed in the ongoing assembly session, she assured them of safeguarding their interests. The state government recently decided to recognise the employees of the state-run corporation as government staff and proposed to table the bill in the assembly. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday said he will write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to confer Bharat Ratna, the country's highest civilian award, on noted Marathi poet and social reformer Annabhau Sathe. Telangana Cabinet approves Rs 60K cr plan for expansion of Hyderabad metro

The Telangana Cabinet on Monday decided to expand the metro rail network in Hyderabad with about Rs 60,000 crore in the next three-four years and, among other decisions, to provide ex-gratia to the kin of 40 people who died during the recent heavy rains in the state.
