Tourists coming to US for Covid-19 vaccine, says US airport official

The global shortage of vaccines and its excess in the United States has quietly resulted in a new kind of tourism in the US, said an official. Rich people from various countries of the world have been travelling to the United States to get shots of the COVID-19 vaccines, do some shopping and then fly back to their home country after a short stay. Known as "vaccine tourism," this concept represents the fastest-growing category of visitors to the SFO Medical Clinic, where the free Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine is administered, the San Francisco International Airport said Wednesday. At present, 80 percent of new vaccine appointments at SFO are coming from non-US citizens, and over 1,000 doses have already been administered to visitors from 58 countries around the world, the airport said. Of these 1,000, only eight are from India. The top five countries on this ...

Indians are looking at travel in newer ways and are willing to explore flexible and nearby travel, and travel to work remotely, according to the latest Airbnb-YouGov survey conducted in May 2021. According to the survey, while the timeline for travel recovery depends on a number of external factors such as vaccination coverage, Indians continue to be eager to get back to travelling and connecting with new people and places, Airbnb said in a statement on Tuesday. The survey showed that 43 per cent would expect or plan to travel in the year, and 66 per cent would consider trips that are within driving distance. A look at travel rules in popular European destinations

Europe is opening up to Americans and other visitors after more than a year of COVID-induced restrictions. But travelers will need patience to figure out who's allowed into which country, how and when. Meanwhile, the welcoming mood isn't always mutual. U.S. borders, for example, remain largely closed to non-Americans. Here's a look at current entry rules in some popular European tourist destinations.
