Namo Bharat ridership to cross 10,000-mark on inaugural day: NCRTC

Services on a priority section of India's first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor began on Saturday and the ridership is expected to cross the 10,000-mark on day one, a senior official of the NCRTC said. The much-anticipated commencement of commercial operations on the 17-km section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor began amid excitement among passengers. Kejriwal clears regulation and licensing of transport aggregators scheme

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has approved a scheme for the regulation and licensing of aggregators providing passenger transport services and delivery service providers in the national capital. The scheme also paves the way for bike taxis and mandates that the aggregators should on-board electric two-wheelers for passenger services. The file pertaining to the Delhi Motor Vehicle Aggregator and Delivery Service Provider Scheme 2023 has now been submitted to the lieutenant governor's office, according to an official statement. Govt plans to set standards for construction of bus bodies: Gadkari

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Friday said the government is considering setting standards for the construction of bus bodies, which will be uniformly applicable to both original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and bus body builders. This step will pave the way for further improvements in the quality of buses in India with a primary focus on ensuring passenger safety during contingency, the road transport and highways minister said in a tweet. Gadkari emphasised that in the wake of the rising number of bus accidents, there is a pressing need to enhance the quality of bus body construction in Bharat. He said the draft notification for these standards is being published by the ministry to solicit suggestions. Gadkari expressed hope that all stakeholders will support this initiative to ensure the safety of all bus occupants.

GreenLine will invest Rs 200 cr for deploying LNG trucks for Hindustan Zinc

Hindustan Zinc Ltd has signed a deal to deploy GreenLine Mobility Solution Ltd's LNG-powered fleet in its supply chain and transportation operations, India's first and the only LNG-fuelled heavy trucking logistics company said on Wednesday. In a statement, GreenLine said it will invest Rs 200 crore for deploying LNG-powered trucks for Hindustan Zinc's road logistics. "Hindustan Zinc, India's largest and only integrated producer of zinc, lead and silver, has chosen GreenLine Mobility Solutions Ltd (GreenLine), a part of Essar Group and a pioneer in green mobility solutions, as its sustainable logistics partner and is set to deploy GreenLine's LNG-powered fleet in its supply chain and transportation operations," it said. LNG-powered vehicles significantly reduce emissions compared to diesel and align perfectly with the sustainability goals of both organizations. Odisha to launch over Rs 3,000 cr scheme for public, commodity transport

The Odisha government has approved a proposal to launch a scheme with an estimated cost of over Rs 3,000 crore to ensure sustainable, affordable and safe transportation of passengers and commodities across the state, a minister said. The roll-out of the Location Accessible Multi-modal Initiative was among 19 proposals, which were given go ahead at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday. Thailand train collision with pickup truck kills 8 people and injures 4

Eight people were killed when a freight train struck a pickup truck crossing the tracks in an eastern province of Thailand early Friday morning, authorities said. The accident at 2:20 am also injured four people in the Muang district of Chachoengsao province, according to the State Railway of Thailand. The 54-year-old driver, Wichai Yulek, told authorities he saw the approaching train and heard a warning horn. He slowed, but passengers in the vehicle urged him to keep going.
