One student was killed and two others were wounded in a stabbing in front of a Southern California high school, authorities said. The three male Santa Ana High students were taken to a hospital, where one of them died and the other two were in stable condition, according to city police spokesperson Officer Natalie Garcia. The stabbing happened on Wednesday afternoon as students were leaving school for the day, district spokesperson Fermin Leal said. The incident involved both students and non-students. Authorities were searching for at least two suspects whose connection to the school and motive were not clear, Garcia said. Other details such as the ages of the victims were not immediately made public. After-school programmes and athletics were cancelled, and officials said the school would make crisis counsellors available Thursday. Santa Ana is a city of about 300,000 people roughly 30 miles (50 kilometres) southeast of Los Angeles. The school serves roughly 3,000 students.
Delhi Police has apprehended eight people, including two juveniles, in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 17-year-old boy in northeast Delhi's Seelampur area, officials said on Sunday. The eight accused were arrested on Saturday. Six of them were identified as Sahil (18), Sohaib (35), Nafish (32), Aneesh (19), Zahida (42) and Vikas (29), they said. On April 18, Zikra (19), who worked as a bouncer for jailed gangster Hashim Baba's wife, was arrested and sent to two-day police custody in the case, a senior police officer said. Kunal, a resident of New Seelampur, was stabbed to death in J-Block, Jhuggi Seelampur, on the evening of April 17. He was rushed to JPC Hospital by his family members, where doctors declared him dead. A 32-year-old man was shot dead by a teenager inside a ward of the GTB Hospital here on Sunday, police said. The victim, Riyazuddin, was admitted to the hospital on June 23 and he was undergoing treatment for abdominal infection, according to police. The incident took place in Ward Number 24 of the hospital, they said and added that there was one shooter. Riyazuddin was injured and was later declared dead, police said. "The PCR call regarding the incident in Ward No. 24 was received at the GTB Enclave police station," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Surendra Choudhary said. "On reaching the spot, police found that a patient, namely Riyazuddin, received injury. He was later declared dead by doctors," he said. The officer said around 4 pm, an 18-year-old man came inside the ward and fired at Riyazuddin. "Case is being registered and teams have been formed to nab the culprit. Prima facie, the matter seems to be of personal enmity," the DCP said.
