Amaravati (AP), May 08 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Gopalkrishna Dwivedi has inaugurated the training programme for returning officers and staff on election counting. At first, 10 persons per district will be trained. The trained personnel will go to their respective districts and train local personnel on 17th May. It is estimated that a maximum of 150 counting staff will be required for an Assembly constituency. 20 per cent additional manpower will be placed. Counting will be held on 23rd May. New Delhi, May 08 (ANI): To curb the spread of false information, Facebook's fact-checking exercise is now running on Instagram.b According to Poynter, Instagram has started applying Facebook's fact checks to keep false photos and memes under check on its platform. Instagram is also considering adding pop-up alerts when people search for anti-vaccine misinformation. To identify and reduce the distribution of false or misleading information or image, Instagram is using image recognition technology and automatic action to remove the false posts from explore tab and Hashtag result pages. >
New Delhi, May 08 (ANI): Women activist Annie Raja filed the RTI against for the action being taken on the people who file FIR against the malfunctioning of VVPAT and EVMs. While speaking to ANI, she said, "There is a movement all over the country, regarding the VVPAT and EVM's. The issue is being raised. If a person complains about the issue being reported in VVPATs and EVM, then FIR is lodged against that person, who has reported the issue against EVM and VVPAT. This is completely unacceptable and illegal. We are demanding cent percent counting of VVPAT". >
Yamunotri, Gangotri (Uttarakhand), May 08 (ANI): On the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya, portals of Yamunotri, Gangotri shrines were opened for devotees on May 7. Pilgrims in large numbers flocked to offer prayers. Portals were thrown open with traditional ceremony. Last year over 3.8 lakh pilgrims had arrived for the pilgrimage at Gangotri and 3.6 lakh at Yamunotri shrine. Portals of Kedarnath and Badrinath are expected to open later this week.
Kadodara (Gujarat), May 08 (ANI): In an unusual sight, dollar bills, along with rupee notes, were showered at famous Gujarati singer Geeta Rabari, who was performing her folk item at a wedding in Kadodara city. In January this year, a similar scene was observed when people had showered dollars on Rabari's folk event in Navsari.
New Delhi, May 08 (ANI): As the food authority is planning to remove soy from list of heart-healthy food, researchers through a study evaluated and determined soy protein has the ability to lower cholesterol by a small but significant amount. According to the study published in the Journal of Nutrition, forty-one trials examined the protein's effects on low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, which is often referred to as the "bad cholesterol" because a high amount of it leads to a build-up of cholesterol in arteries. All 43 studies provided data about "total cholesterol," which reflects the overall amount of cholesterol in the blood. Researchers found that soy protein reduced LDL cholesterol by three to four per cent in adults, a small but significant amount, noted Dr David Jenkins, the lead author of the study.

Pune (Maharashtra), May 08 (ANI): Dr Hema Sane, a 79 years old woman based in Pune, in times of consumerism, does not believe in electronic appliances of even electricity. The reason behind not using electricity is her love for nature and environment. Dr Sane is a PHD holder in botany from Savitribai Phule University and she was even professor at Garware College for years. She lives in a small house in Budhwar Peth area of city. Her house is surrounded with different types of trees and bird nests. Chirping of birds is the natural alarm clock and fresh air surrounds her home. "These birds are my friends whenever I do my housework they come. People often ask me why you don't sell this house you will get so much money, but I always say, what about these trees and birds. I dont want to go out I want to stay with them," said Dr Sane.
Jamui (Bihar), May 08 (ANI): Around 15-20 Naxals dressed in police uniform barged into a home in Bihar's Jamui with an intention to loot, fired bullets at the man and his daughter. Both the victims were rushed to a nearby hospital where they are said to be in a stable condition. One of the victims' relatives told ANI, "15-20 Naxals entered the home, opened fire and looted the house."
Rohtak (Haryana), May 07 (ANI): Congress General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh (East), Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Congress leader Deepender Singh Hooda held a roadshow in Haryana's Rohtak today. Deepender Hooda is a candidate of Congress party from Rohtak parliamentary constituency. In Haryana, elections will be held in the sixth phase on May 12. Large number of Congress supporters turned up for the massive rally. Several leaders of Congress were also present during his election campaign. Five phases have already been completed in the ongoing seven-phase Lok Sabha elections. The results of the elections will be out on May 23.
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), May 07 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath addressed media after a Congress delegation went to the residence of former MP chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and gave him documents containing details of farmers whose loans have been waived off by present state government. CM Kamal Nath said, "Shivraj Singh Chouhan, today, was given a list of 21 lakh farmers whose loans have been waived off and in whose accounts, the money has been deposited. List is available on the agriculture portal as well, guess he doesn't know how to access it."
Tehri (Uttarakhand), May 07 (ANI): A floating restaurant 'Marina' was capsized in Uttarakhand's Tehri today. Uttarakhand Cabinet meeting was held in May 2018 in this floating restaurant. 'Marina' was defunct for past few months in Tehri. Speaking to ANI on this matter, District Magistrate of Tehri said, "Our officials are at the spot, we will see why it happened."

Mumbai, May 07 (ANI): A 19-year-old girl from Pune filed a petition in the Bombay High Court for seeking protection. Priyanka Shete has filed petition against her parents for opposing her inter-caste relationship. Speaking to media, Priyanka Shete said, "I have been in relationship for three years, family got to know about it, they tortured me and threatened to kill us. I ran away from house and I wasn't getting help from police either, so I decided to approach the court." Meanwhile, Lawyer of Priyanka Shete, Nitin Satpute said, "Priyanka Shete was in a relationship with a boy from a Scheduled Caste (SC), which her family didn't approve of. Bombay High Court has given directions that the girl registers her statements with the police and that police provides protection to the couple."
