Spread over an area of about 30 hectares, the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden also serves as an employment medium to hundreds of local youth in the militancy-hit state.The tulip garden is situated on the foothills of Zabarwan Range with an overview of Dal Lake.
Udhampur (J-K), Apr 27 (ANI): Laying bare the conditions of education infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir, students of a government primary school in Udhampur's Turga village study under open sky due to lack of adequate facilities. The school was established in 1999 but to this time does not have a proper building. Taking the cognizance of the matter, Udhampur's Chief Education Officer Daljeet Singh said he has directed all Zonal Education Officers to work on the pending work of all such schools. "I have instructed all the Zonal Education Officers to bring to my notice all such schools which don't have adequate facilities or their work has been pending, so we can work on them," Singh told ANI.
Amethi (Uttar Pradesh), Apr 28 (ANI): Congress General Secretary from UP (East) Priyanka Gandhi slammed Smriti Irani for distributing shoes in Amethi by calling it 'an insult of people of Amethi'. She said, "Issues are clear; employment, education and health. Nationalism is to solve problems of people. Here they don't listen to people, when they raise their issues they suppress them, it's neither democracy nor nationalism." She further added, "The way they contest polls by distributing money, sarees and shoes in front of media is wrong. People of Amethi have never begged in front of anyone. I've been coming here since I was 12, people of Amethi and Raebareli have a lot of pride.
Ludhiana (Punjab), Apr 28 (ANI): A burger vendor Ravinder Pal Singh is contesting as an independent candidate from the Ludhiana Lok Sabha seat. Ravinder Pal Singh filed his nomination on April 24. Due to lack of funds, he campaigns on his scooter. He aims to take on education mafia if elected by voters. Speaking to ANI he told, "If I'm elected I'll take on the education mafia and ensure good education for poor people. I'm unable to put up big posters, I'm only campaigning on my scooter but I'm confident." Lok Sabha polls will be held in last phase on May 19 in Rajasthan.
Ratlam (MP), Apr 28 (ANI): Mortal remains of Indian Navy's Lieutenant Commander DS Chouhan were brought to his home in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh. He lost his life during fire fighting operations on-board aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya. The fire broke out on Friday morning when the ship was entering the harbour in Karwar, Karnataka. The Navy has ordered Board of Inquiry to probe the accident.

New Delhi, Apr 28 (ANI): The release of Ayan Mukerji's dream project 'Brahmastra', starring Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, has been postponed. The fantasy drama film, which was initially scheduled to release around Christmas this year, will now hit the big screens in summer 2020. Ayan announced the news on his Instagram account. On Friday, Salman Khan announced that his upcoming flick 'Dabangg 3' will release on December 20, 2019. 'Brahmastra' is first part of a sci-fi trilogy which has been created by Ayan. The film has been extensively shot in Bulgaria, New York, and Mumbai, among other places. Apart from Ranbir and Alia, the film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy and Tollywood actor Nagarjuna.
Jammu (JandK), Apr 28 (ANI): The annual 'Darbar move' under which the Jammu and Kashmir government moves to the summer capital of Srinagar for six months has commenced in the state. All the offices including the civil secretariat and the Raj Bhavan closed in Jammu on Saturday and they are set to reopen in Srinagar on May 6 or May 7, according to officials. Charanjeet, a local resident said that the move has been in place since the time the state was ruled by Maharajahs.

While speaking to media, Police officer said, "Based on a tip-off, we found 2 cartons of liquor from a vehicle outside a showroom and arrested 2 people. 3 more cartons recovered from the showroom. Case registered, investigation on". This comes ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

New Delhi, Apr 28 (ANI): Peppermint could help treat difficulty in swallowing food and non-cardiac chest pain, as per a study. "Peppermint oil is an established agent in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome. We tried to examine its effect on patients with swallowing and chest pain issues with no apparent cause," said Mohamed Khalaf, first author of the study. The research was published in Digestive Diseases and Sciences. Of the 38 patients enrolled in the pilot study, overall 63 per cent reported improvement of the symptoms. Patients were recruited from the Oesophageal Disorders Clinic. "Our findings suggest that peppermint may help prevent these symptoms by relaxing the smooth muscle in the lower oesophagus," said Donald O. Castell, senior author of the study. Peppermint oil has been known to have therapeutic effects in multiple disorders due to its muscle-relaxing properties. Birbhum (WB), Apr 27 (ANI): The Santhal community in West Bengal's Bonerpukur Danga village in Birbhum district have complained of not receiving any legal documents of the land where they are residing. The village Bonerpukur Danga consists of more than 110 families who dwell in the forest land. Other than the land, they have a series of difficulties of which the major issues are water, roadways and unemployment. The Santhals are the largest tribal community of India living in parts of Jharkhand, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha and Assam. They earn their livelihood from farming other than crafts and 100 days work which state government provides them. Asansol, Baharampur, Burdhman (East), Bolpur, Ranaghat and Krishnagar from West Bengal will go for polling on April 29.

To quench their thirst, people try to accumulate water from dry river. Furthermore, villagers walk miles to fetch water for daily chores in hot weather. Palamu is considered as one of the hottest places in Jharkhand and always remains under water crisis. Dry land prone to drought is just 3-4 kilometer away from the district headquarters. Drought and scarcity of drinking water are the common issues for villagers during the summers. Long ago in 70s, Tahle Reservoir Project was initiated to solve the water crisis and irrigation, but the project could never come out of papers.
