Vinod Khanna's wife 'hurt' over Gurdaspur seat going to Sunny Deol, says will make 'personal sacrifice' for PM Modi

New Delhi, Apr 27 (ANI): As the BJP fielded actor Sunny Deol from the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha seat which earlier belonged to late actor and party leader Vinod Khanna, the latter's wife Kavita Khanna has expressed disappointment over the ticket snub but said she will not contest as an independent candidate from the seat. Kavita added that she is making a "personal sacrifice" for the larger good of the party and nation which is to assure the return of Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the Lok Sabha elections. Asked whether she would campaign for Deol, Kavita said she has been asked by the actor for it but won't refuse if contacted.

New Delhi, Apr 27 (ANI): While speaking to ANI, Congress leader PC Chacko spoke on Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Yasin Malik. Chacko said, "If Pragya Singh Thakur, a convicted person, an accused person, can contest an election, and in the name of separatism, Delhi is asking him (Yasin Malik) at gun point to surrender, anyone with self respect will react the way Mr Yasin Malik did. Even though we do not support Yasin Malik's ideology or actions, the courage he has shown is something which should be appreciated because New Delhi cannot threaten anybody, India is a democracy."

Tanveer Hasan will win Begusarai seat with huge margin: Tejashwi Yadav

Patna (Bihar), Apr 27 (ANI): Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav on Saturday assured that party's Begusarai Lok Sabha candidate Tanveer Hasan will triumph the election. Assuring Hasan's victory, he said that he is going to win Begusarai seat and that too by a huge margin. "We're fighting against BJP on all 40 seats. Tanveer Sahab is going to win Begusarai seat and that too by a huge margin. Whatever environment one creates, we aren't bothered, because public has made up its mind," said Yadav.

CBI, ED, IT are working like BJP's IT cell: Tejashwi Yadav

Patna (Bihar), Apr 27 (ANI): Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav on Saturday defended BSP supremo Mayawati and said that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Income Tax (IT) department are working like 'IT cell' of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Yadav's statement a day after the CBI registered an FIR in a case of alleged irregularities in the disinvestment of seven state-owned sugar mills, in the year 2010-11, leading to a loss of Rs. 1,179 crore to Uttar Pradesh state exchequer. Mayawati was the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh when the alleged irregularities took place.

Chhindwara (MP), Apr 27 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath on Saturday reacted on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's corruption allegation on him. Countering the allegations, he questioned PM Modi that he should tell the nation about his expenses in the first place then ask others. "Prime Minister should tell the nation who bears the expenses of his plane rides. He should reply from where did he get the money to construct Rs 700 crore office of BJP in Delhi. Then only he should ask me questions," said CM Nath. PM Modi addressed a rally in Jabalpur on April 26. During which he slammed MP CM by saying that CM Nath prioritises his Switzerland visits over the development of the state. "His (Kamal Nath) priorities include jet-setting to Switzerland immediately after elections, leaving all administrative work, just to establish his own dynasty and of course, corruption. Very sad state of affairs."

Air India server restored, services resumed

New Delhi, Apr 27 (ANI): Air India flights got affected after airline's SITA server went down all over India and overseas since 3:30 am on Saturday. Passengers were waiting at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. However, the services have been resumed now. CMD Air India Ashwani Lohani says, "Air India System restored". He said, "Between 3:30 to 4:30 am today, passenger services system of Air India that is run by SITA was taken for maintenance and after that it remained down till 8:45 am, it has just come back. System is restored. During the day we will see consequential delays."

School in Manipur's Imphal burnt down, local student organisations are in suspect

Imphal (Manipur), Apr 27 (ANI): St. Joseph's Higher Secondary School was burnt down on April 25 in Manipur's Imphal. The incident happened after the school administration took disciplinary action against few students. Almost 10 rooms are destroyed out of which 2 had files and documents. While speaking to ANI, principal of the school said, "We suspect it could be by local student organisations. They didn't like the action against students. We've been discussing that the reason could be negotiation with local student organisation. They didn't like the correctional measure we had taken. They wanted the punishment quashed. 10 rooms have been destroyed, 2 of them had documents, files and equipment."

Asian Athletics Championship: Gomathi Marimuthu returns home after winning gold

PepsiCo sues 4 Gujarat farmers for cultivating its patented potato

Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Apr 27 (ANI): American multinational company PepsiCo has filed a suit against four farmers of the state claiming that they have used its patented seeds to grow potatoes without prior permission. While speaking to mediapersons, Anand Yagnik, the advocate representing the farmers said, ""PepsiCo company has filed a suit against 4 farmers of North Gujarat in a commercial court in Ahmedabad, saying that the seeds used by these farmers can't be used by them as PepsiCo has the right over those seeds." Speaking to media here, one of the four farmers said, "We have not committed any crime. We have sown our crops according to the Indians laws. We have not taken seed from any company." The court has given the farmers time till June 12 to respond to PepsiCo's suit.

Amazon considering one-day free delivery option for Prime members

New Delhi, Apr 27 (ANI): Amazon Prime members will be able to receive their online orders in less than two days as the company is mulling over a new delivery model. Currently, Prime users have to pay extra if they want one-day delivery. The new model will reduce the delivery time from two whole days to one-day shipping at no extra cost, Mashable reports. The announcement arrives on the heels of Amazon's first quarter earnings call, during which the e-commerce giant reported that its sales went up 17 per cent to USD 59.

Time-restricted eating beneficial for blood glucose: Study

New Delhi, Apr 27 (ANI): According to the findings of a recent study, time-restricted eating can turn out to be beneficial for blood glucose. As part of the study, a team of researchers assessed the effects of time-restricted eating (TRE) in 15 men for one week. "The men, who are at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes, limited their food intake to a nine-hour period per day," said Leonie Heilbronn, lead author of the study. The blood glucose response to a standard meal was assessed each day of the study. The investigators found that TRE improved glucose control, regardless of when the men chose to stop eating. "Our results suggest that modulating when, rather than what, we eat can improve glucose control. We did see a tiny amount of weight loss in this study, which may have contributed to the results," Heilbronn explained.
