Colombo (Sri Lanka), Apr 22 (ANI): Death toll rose to 290 and around 500 people are wounded in series of blasts that took place in Sri Lanka on April 21. These severe blasts occurred in churches and luxury hotels on the occasion of Easter in Sri Lanka. The last two of the total eight blasts were suicide bombings which took place when security personnel were about to arrest suspects.
Rampur (Uttar Pradesh), Apr 22 (ANI): While addressing a public gathering in Uttar Pradesh's Rampur. Samajwadi Party leader and Azam Khan's son Abdullah Azam Khan said, "We want both 'Ali' and 'Bajrangbali' but not 'Anarkali' (Ali bhi humare, bajrangbali bhi humare. Humein Ali bhi chahiye, bajrangbali bhi chahiye lekin Anarkali nahi chahiye)." The statement given by the SP leader was an attack on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Rampur, Jaya Prada.
Bhiwandi (Maharashtra), Apr 22 (ANI): A massive fire broke out at a building in Maharashtra's Bhiwandi on Monday. This incident took place at Kalher village in Bhiwandi. Around three fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire. No casualty has been reported yet. Fire fighting operation is underway. More details are awaited in this regard.
Sambhal (Uttar Pradesh), Apr 22 (ANI): Police have arrested two persons who were allegedly distributing liquor on behalf of Karan Singh Yadav, the Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia) candidate from Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal Lok Sabha constituency. Two cartons of liquor have been seized from them. Speaking to ANI, police official said, "We got information that liquor was being distributed in large quantities by two persons at Moradabad road. They have been arrested and two cartons of liquor have been seized. Action is being taken for violating the Model Code of Conduct during elections. The candidate is Karan Singh Yadav." 10 Lok Sabha constituencies in Uttar Pradesh will go to polls on April 23 in the third phase of elections.
Tiruchirappalli (Tamil Nadu), Apr 22 (ANI): Around seven people died and more than 10 people got injured in a stampede in Tamil Nadu's Tiruchirappalli on Sunday. The incident took place at Karupu Swamy Temple in Muthampalayam village near Thuraiyur. All the injured people were admitted to a hospital for medical treatment.
Agra (Uttar Pradesh), Apr 22 (ANI): An Army jawan got arrested in Uttar Pradesh's Agra for allegedly molesting a minor girl while they were on-board the Navyug Express. Speaking to ANI, police official said, "A Bhopal resident and his family was returning from Katra when the jawan molested his 11-year-old daughter at New Delhi Railway Station. First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against the culprit. Jawan sent to jail." The accused, M Gangaiya, was sent to custody by the Agra Railway Police and a zero FIR was filed in Agra Cantt Police Station.

Hubli (Karnataka), Apr 22 (ANI): The Hubli Police arrested around three people, including a juvenile, and seized stolen gold jewellery worth Rs 21 Lakh, cameras and motorcycles from them. Two other accused are absconding in this case. Speaking to ANI, Police Commissioner of Hubli Dharwad City MN Nagaraj said, "This seems to be an inter-district or inter-state gang." Further investigation is underway in this regard.

New Delhi, Apr 22 (ANI): A research has found the mechanism behind establishment and maintenance of persistent infection by Hepatitis B virus (HBV). It could help in the development of new therapeutic strategies. HBV is a blood-borne pathogen that chronically infects approximately 350 million people worldwide, and more than 780,000 patients die annually due to HBV related liver diseases. Chronic HBV infection is associated with impaired virus-specific T-cell responses. Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) are immune cells known to play a critical role in impairing anti-viral T-cell responses. While Rampur has always been world famous for one of the famous forms of hand embroidery, Zardosi, the artisans are struggling to meet their daily needs. Zardosi is a traditional art form which involves embroidery using precious gems and stones. "I have been working in the industry, but since last 5 years we are suffering as we are managing to earn just Rs 200 a day". They have not been able to get acquainted with Goods and Service Tax (GST). It has proved to be major roadblock for artisans. The industry's work force is slowly moving towards other alternatives.
