Pune (Maharashtra), Apr 16 (ANI): A couple from Maharashtra's Pune has filed a petition in the Supreme Court (SC) seeking to declare prohibition on entry of Muslim women into mosques as 'illegal and unconstitutional'. Speaking to ANI on this matter, petitioner Zuber Peerzade said, "We requested police to help women who wanted to pray at mosque, but Jamaat didn't allow. We were left with no option." The couple wishes that women should get the right to pray inside all mosques.
New Delhi, Apr 16 (ANI): Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Tuesday responded on Congress general secretary for Uttar Pradesh (East) Priyanka Gandhi's 'Hindu martyr-Muslim martyr' comment. Countering Priyanka, he said that the Congress general secretary for UP (East) has scarcity of issues and they are polarizing the vote in the nation of religion. "When there is scarcity in issues then they ask vote in the name of caste, they try to polarize the vote in the name of religion," said Naqvi.
Bhatapara (Chhattisgarh), Apr 16 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public rally in Bhatapara, Chhattisgarh. He took jibe at Rahul Gandhi's 'chowkidar chor hai' remark by asking 'what kind of politics is this?' Lucknow (UP), Apr 16 (ANI): Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party (SBSP) chief Om Prakash Rajbhar on Tuesday clarified that his party has decided to break the alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). While talking to the mediapersons, Rajbhar said that his party has decided to break the alliance with BJP for not being given enough seats to contest in the party's area of influence. "Respectable chief minister and Jagat Prakash Nadda called me and said to me to contest the election under BJP's election symbol, you will become MP, I told them that I won't contest the election under your party's symbol and deciding party candidate is the work of our party's leader not yours," said Rajbhar.
Patna (Bihar), Apr 16 (ANI): Amid the Lok Sabha elections, speaking to ANI on various political issues, chairman of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) Chirag Paswan said, "Statement said by Azam Khan on Jaya Prada was really shameful and highly condemnable. This is quite shocking and alarming for me that there is some leader who can use such type of cheap language." "Though, the Election Commission of India (ECI) took cognisance of this matter but the action taken against him was not enough. More strict actions should be taken against him as soon as possible," Paswan added.
Davanagere (Karanataka), Apr 16 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Tuesday said that the 'mahamilawat' alliance made HD Kumaraswamy the Chief Minister of Karnataka, despite the latter's party, JD(S), bagging the least number of seats in the 2017 state Assembly polls. "JD(S) got the least number of seats in the recently held state Assembly elections, BJP got the most number of seats but the 'mahamilawat' made that person the CM whose party got the least number of seats," Shah said at a public rally in Karnataka's Davanagere.

Krishna (AP), Apr 16 (ANI): Two died and several people were injured after a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) bus met with an accident in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. The injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital. Investigation is underway regarding the case.

Shimla (HP) Apr 16 (ANI): The hill state of Himachal Pradesh on Monday celebrated its 72nd Foundation Day. The Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Acharya Dev Vrat hoisted the Tricolour at Ridge Maidan in Shimla. Residents of Shimla turned up to witness parade by HP Police on the occasion. The traditional folk dances along with the environment awareness were the attractions of the day. Himachal Pradesh Governor addressed the gathering where he said "Himachal was founded in April 15, 1948 and has reached on heights of development". Greeting the people on HP's Foundation Day, he appealed to public, to take steps against drugs and make other people aware about its harmful effects. He had also urged public, to work in the favour of development of state.
Barabanki (UP), Apr 16 (ANI): The Election Commission of India (ECI) suspended four Indian Railways' employees, including two reservation clerks, one Chief Reservation Supervisor and a Commercial Inspector after tickets with the photograph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi printed on them was issued to passengers at the Barabanki railway station due to violation of Moral Code of Conduct (MCC) on Monday. Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sandeep Gupta said, "On 13 April, when shift changes, the old roll featuring Prime Minister was mistakenly used. However, we were directed to use a new roll after the MCC came into effect. As boxes of both the rolls were same, the employees mistakenly took out the box which had an old roll." Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh are being held from April 11 and will go on till May 19 in all seven phases. Counting of votes will take place on May 23."
Shivamogga (Karnataka), Apr 16 (ANI): Election Commission flying squad on Tuesday checked the luggage of former Karnataka chief minister and state BJP president BS Yeddyurappa at a helipad in Shivamogga. Yeddyurappa was inside the chopper while his belongings were inspected. It hasn't been ascertained whether the flying squad acted on its own or on someone's complaint.
Kolkata, Apr 16 (ANI): After meeting with Election Commission (EC) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Jay Prakash Majumdar on Bangladeshi actor Ferdous's campaign for TMC said said, "We understand that foreign nationals can't participate in electioneering process in India. When TMC is using Bangladeshi nationals (actor Ferdous) for campaigning, they are breaking the rules. He should be arrested for breach of visa rules."

Yoga Guru Ramdev and Rathore's wife Gayatri Rathore accompanied him to the District Collector's office. Lucknow (UP), Apr 16 (ANI): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday filed his nomination for Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow Parliamentary seat. Party leaders including Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma accompanied the Home Minister during his nomination filing. Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was elected five times from Lucknow Parliamentary seat. Rajnath Singh won from Lucknow in 2014.
