LS polls: BJP's Sambit Patra files nomination from Puri constituency

Puri (Odisha), Mar 29 (ANI): BJP's National Spokeperson Sambit Patra on Friday filed his nomination for Puri Lok Sabha constituency at the District Collector and Magistrate's office in Puri. Soon after filing his nomination, Patra said, "Today is a very important day for me. Today I have filed my nomination seeking the blessings of Lord Jaggannath. I have become the candidate of Puri with the blessings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah. The way Uttar Pradesh and Tripura has changed and developed, that similar positive change would be brought in Odisha." He further stated, "Odisha is no more BJD's hotbed. Even the BJD cadres are saying that they no more like BJD."

LS polls: PM Modi takes jibe at Telangana govt during public rally

Mahbubnagar (Telangana), Mar 29 (ANI): Addressing a public rally in Telangana's Mahbubnagar on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a jibe at the state government. PM Modi said, "Whatever work we have done, we could have done more but the state did not care. The situation is that the state government has the expertise in putting their label on the policies of the central government. That is okay but they should at least work." He further stated, "We gave 1.50 crore pucca houses to the poor of this country but the government here said they would allot them flats. How many did actually get the flats?"

Jorhat (Assam) 29 March (ANI): Meet 35 year old Mahan Borah, hailing from Meleng Kathgaon of Jorhat whose exceptionally unique endeavour in promoting and preserving these indigenous rice varieties from rapid extinction has brought him national recognition.For more than a decade now, Mahan has been cultivating rice using traditional methods in his 2 bighas of land for preserving the germplasm of various varieties of rice. He has also collected rice from various parts of the northeast region for breeding and cloning of seeds. It however, deserves a special mention that Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Radha Mohan Singh has consented to felicitate Mahan Borah with Plant Genome Savior Farmers award for his unique endeavour to preserve the traditional varieties of rice.

Samjhauta train blast: FM Jaitley criticises Congress for coining term Hindu terror

New Delhi, Mar 29 (ANI): During a press conference held in New Delhi, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley spoke about Samjhauta Express blast 2007 and Panchkula Court's decision. He even hit at Congress party's 'Hindu Terror' term. He said, "Congress coined 'Hindu terror' and filed cases based on fake evidence to create this theory but in the end, court has to take decision on the basis of actual evidences. IAF strike: While Pakistan is still counting dead bodies, rivals seeking proofs, says PM Modi

Koraput (Odisha), Mar 29 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that even as the Balakot air strike happened more than a month ago, Pakistan was still counting the dead bodies. PM Modi also criticised the opposition for asking proofs of the strike. "It's been a month (since air strike) and Pakistan is still counting bodies. When India takes action against terrorists, enters their home and kills them then some people out here ask for proofs," PM Modi said in Koraput, where he addressed the public rally.

BJP MLA arrested for violating model code of conduct in MP's Neemuch

Neemuch (Madhya Pradesh), Mar 29 (ANI): Madhaya Pradesh police arrested Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Dilip Singh for violating model code of conduct. The court ordered Singh to be in jail till April 6. Another BJP leader who is the chairman of Neemuch Nagar Palika, was also sent to police custody till April 6. Singh along with other BJP workers, without taking prior permission, celebrated with fireworks the renomination of sitting MP Sudhir Gupta for the Mandsaur Lok Sabha seat.

Etawah (Uttar Pradesh), Mar 29 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former MoS for Human Resources Development (HRD) Ram Shankar Katheria in a controversial remark said that since the BJP is ruling in both Uttar Pradesh and at centre, no one could raise any "finger" against the party and if one does so, that finger will be "broken". "Mayawati imposed many cases on me, but I kept fighting and she was never able to put me in jail. Today our government is in the state and centre, so now if anyone raises a finger at us, that finger will be broken," Katheria said at a public meeting in Etawah. BJP has fielded Katheria from the Etawah constituency for the Lok Sabha elections.

UP police arrests 6 criminals in Meerut encounter

Meerut (Uttar Pradesh), Mar 29 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh police arrested six criminals following an encounter in Meerut. Two police officers and four of six criminals got injured in the exchange of fire. Police recovered a looted vehicle along with huge cache of arms and ammunition from the criminals. "These criminals are associated with gangster Bhiwani.
