Sambhal (Uttar Pradesh), Mar 23 (ANI): Recently, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders were celebrating holi milan programme in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal when an unusual incident happened. Several leaders got up to the stage and it got collapsed. Everyone who was on the stage fell down. The incident happened when BJP leaders were addressing the public. BJP Kisan Morcha leader Avdesh Yadav got injured and fractured his leg. He was taken to nearby hospital.
Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Mar 23 (ANI): Former Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh said that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will take final decision on 6 Lok Sabha seats of Chhattisgarh. He said, "A meeting of BJP Central Election Committee will be held today and I think final decision on 6 Lok Sabha seats will be taken and candidates for these seats will be declared."
New Delhi, Mar 23 (ANI): Central government has banned Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Yasin Malik on Friday. Defence Expert PK Sehgal expressed his views on this. He said, "Government should have taken this step at least 20-30 years before. This organisation is doing various unlawful things since 1988. They murdered Kashmiri pundits, kidnapped 4 officers of Air Force and they even kidnapped daughter of home minister of that time." Sehgal further said, "India was tolerating him for 32 years. Of course, this step would also bring bounce in Kashmir."
Bengaluru (Karnataka), Mar 23 (ANI): Amid the political slugfest over a 'diary' alleging that top leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had received Rs 1,800 crore from former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, senior Congress leader DK Shivakumar on Friday asserted that some BJP leaders were coming out with their own versions. He further said that he would comment on the matter at an appropriate time. Speaking to ANI, Shivakumar said, "Some BJP leaders are coming out with their own information based on what information they had. Let me go through it. I don't want to comment on it. I will comment on it at an appropriate time. Congress party members have not spoken to me on this issue right now." Shivakumar's comments came after the BJP raked up the issue of raids by Income-Tax officials on the Karnataka Congress leader's properties in August 2017, in response to Congress' allegations.
New Delhi, Mar 23 (ANI): As part of a recent study, researchers have found oxidative stress as the common link between sleep and ageing. Research suggests that oxidative stress leads to sleep and is also believed to be a reason why we age. It is also seen as a cause of degenerative diseases. Lead researcher of the study explained that oxidative stress activates the neurons that control whether we go to sleep. This is believed to be a cause of aging and a culprit for the degenerative diseases that blight our later years. The team studied the regulation of sleep in fruit flies-the animal that also provided the first insight into the circadian clock nearly 50 years ago. Each fly has a special set of sleep-control neurons, brain cells that are also found in other animals and believed to exist in people. Dharwad (Karnataka), Mar 23 (ANI): The death toll in the building collapse in Karnataka's Dharwad district rose to 15 on Friday. The rescue operation is still underway to pull out people who are believed to be trapped in the debris of the under-construction building that collapsed in Kumareshwar Nagar on March 19. Speaking to ANI, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) of fire and emergency services in Karnataka Sunil Aggarwal said, "It has been more than 72 hours, the operation is still on. Till now the death toll is 15."
Gurugram (Haryana), Mar 23 (ANI): The members of a Muslim family were mercilessly beaten with iron rods and hockey sticks, and their house was pelted with stones by a mob of over 40 men in Bhondsi, Gurugram, on March 21. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP)-Crime of Gurugram Shamsher Singh said, "A case has been registered at Bhondsi police station that when children of a local were playing cricket, a few men came there, threatened them asking them not to play cricket there and attacked them with sticks and swords. Accused will be identified and arrested soon." The police claimed that the brawl was triggered over a game of cricket on Holi.
Nagaon (Assam), Mar 23 (ANI): A massive fire broke out in a garment shop in Assam's Nagaon on Friday. Around four fire tenders are present at the spot. Rescue units have reached the spot and trying to bring the fire under control. The reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained. More details are awaited in this regard.
New Delhi, Mar 23 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its second list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls on Friday night in the national capital. It carried 36 names including 23 nominees for Andhra Pradesh where polling will be held in the first phase on April 11. Lok Sabha polls will begin from April 11 and will end on May 19. The counting of votes will take place on May 23. Speaking to ANI, JP Nadda said, "We have come out with list of 36 new candidates which includes Odisha BJP President Basant Panda, senior leader Suresh Pujari and our spokesperson Sambit Patra. We would like to clear the 1st and 2nd phase candidates as soon as possible and we are working on it."
Tura (Meghalaya), Mar 23 (ANI): Former Union Minister Agatha Sangma filed her nomination papers as a candidate of National People's Party (NPP) in Meghalaya's Tura on Friday. She filed her nomination for the Tura parliamentary seat in Meghalaya. Speaking to ANI, Agatha Sangma said, "I would like to thank everybody from my political party. They have shown solidarity in me and they waited the whole day for this nomination to be filed. The mood for the elections will definitely start from now onwards. Indore (Madhya Pradesh), Mar 23 (ANI): The H1N1 virus has claimed the lives of 41 people in Madhya Pradesh's Indore due to swine flu since January this year. Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) of Indore Dr Praveen Jadiya said, "From January till date we sent 644 samples for tests, out of which 152 were positive, reports of 10 are yet to come. 41 deaths reported out of which 20 were from Indore. Currently 19 patients with swine-flu are admitted." "We have increased the number of fever clinics and screening centers, patients are being given primary treatment there, he added.
Muzaffarpur (Bihar), Mar 23 (ANI): A young businessman was shot dead by unknown bike-borne assailants in Bihar's Muzaffarpur on Friday. The victim, Vipin Gopal Rai, died on the spot. The incident happened in Aurai Police station area. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against unknown people. No arrest has been made in the case yet. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP)-East of Muzaffarpur Gaurav Pandey said, "The case is being investigated. Eyewitnesses say that 12 bullets were fired at him. We are trying to identify the criminals behind this. How many bullets were fired will be clear only after the post-mortem report comes."
Siliguri (WB), Mar 22 (ANI): Two persons died after jumping from the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express after its engine caught fire earlier in the day. The train's engine caught fire near Phansidewa in Darjeeling district of West Bengal. According to locals, as the engine caught fire there was chaos inside the train compartments and out of fear two persons jumped out of the train. As per a local, two of them died because the railway authority arrived late at the spot.
Hisar (Haryana), Mar 22 (ANI): The 18 month-old boy who had fallen into a 60-feet deep borewell in Hisar's Balsamand village has been rescued. The toddler fell into the borewell on Thursday. Authorities started the rescue operation to evacuate the child soon after the incident. The rescued toddler has been shifted to a nearby hospital.
Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), Mar 22 (ANI): Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Friday said that he is feeling very confident and that he will win bigger majority than last time. Tharoor said, "I am feeling very confident, this campaign has been on for some time, everyone's known the names of the candidates. Bandipora (J and K), Mar 22 (ANI): While addressing the press conference in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rahul Malik on Friday said, "Two terrorists were eliminated in Hajin encounter, both were affiliated to LeT. One of the terrorists was involved in many civilian killings. We have recovered arms and ammunition." The Hajin operation ran into a hostage crisis on Thursday. Locals helped the security forces in rescuing two persons from the house where the militants were hiding.

Patna (Bihar), Mar 22 (ANI): Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Manoj Jha took offence on a reporter's question asking about Tejashwi Yadav's absence in the press conference where seat sharing was announced, and asked whether the reporter was terming him "insignificant" to his party. "Am I nothing in my party? You are making me insignificant? If format changes at the last moment, it's a party's decision, do not question that," Jha said in Patna.

New Delhi, Mar 22 (ANI): Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar on Friday announced that India will not be sending any representative for Pakistan National Day reception this year. Kumar said, "I can confirm that India has decided not to send any representative to attend the Pakistan National Day. This decision was taken after the Pakistan High Commission decided to invite the Hurriyat representatives to the reception. We are very clear that any attempt by the Pakistani High Commission or by the Pakistani leadership to engage with the Hurriyat representatives will not be taken lightly and we have said this in the past as well."
