LS polls 2019: RJD keeps 20 seats, gives 9 to Congress in Bihar grand alliance

Patna (Bihar), Mar 22 (ANI): Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Manoj Jha on Friday announced that his party will fight on 20 Lok Sabha seats with its main ally Congress contesting nine seats in Bihar, and the remaining 11 seats going to other regional parties. Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP), which had left the NDA alliance earlier this year, was given five seats, and Jitan Ram Manjhi-led Hindustani Awam Morcha will fight three seats. Bihar has 40 Lok Sabha seats and polls will be held in seven phases starting April 11.

Amazon introduces new Kindle with self-illuminated screen

New Delhi, Mar 22 (ANI): Amazon launched an all-new entry-level Kindle that now boasts a self-illuminated screen. It costs USD 90, which is higher than the predecessor that was launched back in 2016. The new Kindle comes in black or white color choices and features an updated design. It weighs heavier than the previous model at 174 grams, and is equipped with the latest electronic ink technology for better contrast, Cnet reports. It features a 6-inch 167 ppi electronic-ink display, Bluetooth connectivity, and upgraded capacitive touch. It includes 4GB of internal storage. Amazon is offering gift card for trade-ins of old e-readers along with a 25 percent discount on new device. The new Kindle is available for pre-order and starts shipping from April 10.

Mangalagiri (Andhra Pradesh), Mar 22 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's son and Information Technology (IT) Minister in the state cabinet, Nara Lokesh, on Friday filed nomination of his candidacy for the Lok Sabha elections from Mangalagiri constituency in Amaravati. Dharwad building collapse: Couple rescued alive after 70 hrs

Dharwad (Karnataka), Mar 22 (ANI): Nearly 70 hours after an under-construction building collapsed in Kumareshwar Nagar in Dharwad region of Karnataka, a couple was rescued alive from under the debris on Friday. The building collapsed on March 19. ADGP fire services Sunil Aggarwal said, "The man Dhakalu Kokare and his wife Sangeeta Kokare were rescued alive from under the debris and most probably they were labourers working in the building construction. The condition of the couple seems fine. We couldn't speak much to them as they have been sent to the hospital."

LS polls: Prakash Raj files nomination from Bengaluru Central

Bengaluru, Mar 22 (ANI): Actor-turned-politician Prakash Raj on Friday visited a Dargah and offered prayers before filing his nominations papers for the upcoming Lok Sabha election. Raj has in January announced that he will not join any political party and will contest the Lok Sabha polls from Bengaluru Central as an Independent. Delhi police arrests JeM terrorist Sajjad Khan

New Delhi, Mar 22 (ANI): A Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorist Sajjad Khan was arrested by Delhi Police Special Cell today. He was a close associate of Pulwama attack mastermind Mudassir Ahmed Khan who had been eliminated earlier this month. Shopian encounter: 1 terrorist killed, operation underway

Shopian (JandK), Mar 22 (ANI): One terrorist was killed in an encounter between security forces and terrorists at Imam Sahib area in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. Two to three terrorists were believed to be trapped inside a house in the residential area. The operation is underway. The security force contingent comprises troops from the 14 and 178 battalions of CRPF, Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police and 34 Rashtriya Rifles (RR). On Thursday, bodies of two terrorists, along with 2 AK-47 rifles, 3 magazines, a mobile phone and a GPS device, were found by the security forces after an encounter in Baramulla district.
