The first real estate investment trust, or REIT, listed on the exchanges in April 2019. That was Embassy Office Parks REIT. We have three listed REITs in our country so far. Perhaps if the pandemic had not intervened, we may have had more. In other words, this is still a nascent investment vehicle. To know more about it, Sanjay Kumar Singh of Business Standard spoke to Ritwik Bhattacharjee, Chief Investment Officer, Embassy Office Parks REIT. He says that if you're looking for a product that is liquid, has high corporate governance standards, makes a lot of disclosures, is tightly regulated, and offers the retail investor a mix of dividend yield and capital appreciation, a REIT is the product to go for.
