Chamoli disaster: Rescue operations continue for 6th consecutive day

Chamoli (Uttarakhand), Feb 12 (ANI): After the glacier burst incident, the rescue operations continued at Tapovan tunnel in Chamoli district on the sixth consecutive day. According to Uttarakhand Government, out of the 204 missing persons, 36 bodies have been recovered while 168 persons are still missing. NDRF Commandant PK Tiwary said, "Our teams are continuously searching for bodies. A team has also been deployed to search for bodies along the river. All agencies involved in rescue operations are working round the clock." A flash flood triggered due to glacier burst on Feb 07 in the district.

Surge in fuel prices breaks 'aam aadmi' again

Mumbai, Feb 12 (ANI): Fuel prices surged again in parts of India. The increased fuel prices affected many in Mumbai. A commuter said, "We are spending Rs 150 daily on petrol. 40-50% of our salary gets spent on fuel itself. The situation has worsened after the lockdown." The price of petrol and diesel in metropolis stands at Rs 94.64/litre and Rs 85.32/litre respectively.

COVID: Over 75-lakh vaccinated in India

New Delhi, Feb 12 (ANI): Total of 75,05,010 beneficiaries have been vaccinated for COVID-19 across India . The country also reported 9,309 new COVID-19 cases and 15,858 discharges on Feb 12. With new infections, the COVID tally of the country stood at 1,08,80,603 while, active cases stand at 1,35,926. With 87 deaths in last 24 hours, death toll rose to 1,55,447.

New Delhi, Feb 12 (ANI): While addressing a press conference in Delhi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on February 12 slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the 'present situation in Eastern Ladakh'. "Defence Min made a statement on the situation in Eastern Ladakh. Now, we find our troops are now going to be stationed at Finger 3. Finger 4 is our territory. Now, we've moved from Finger 4 to Finger3. Why has Mr Modi given up our territory to the Chinese," he said. "The Defence Minister didn't speak a word on the most important strategic area - Depsang Plains - from where China had entered. The truth is that the Prime Minister has given away the Indian Territory to China. He must answer to the country," he added. New Delhi, Feb 12 (ANI): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on February 12 called Prime Minister Narendra Modi a "coward" who cannot stand up to the Chinese. While addressing a press conference in the national capital, Rahul said, "The PM is a coward who cannot stand up to the Chinese. He is spitting on the sacrifice of our Army. He is betraying the sacrifice of our Army. Nobody in India should be allowed to do it." "It is the responsibility of the Prime Minister to protect the territory of this country. How he does it is his problem, not mine," he added. Status quo ante pre-April 2020 on LAC restored or not? Owaisi questions Defence Minister

New Delhi, Feb 12 (ANI): Commenting on Defence Minister's remarks on disengagement of Chinese troops from LAC, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi claimed that the latter has not revealed whether status quo ante pre April 2020 has been restored or not. "The Defence Minister is not revealing if status quo ante pre-April 2020 has been restored on the LAC," said AIMIM chief. Noting that India's firm resolve to not allow an inch of its territory to be taken by anyone had led to an agreement with China concerning disengagement from Pangong Lake area, Minister Rajnath Singh said in Lok Sabha on Feb 11.

New Delhi, Feb 11 (ANI): While speaking in the Rajya Sabha on the 'present situation in Eastern Ladakh', Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on February 11 said they will not let anyone take even an inch of the land. Defence Minister further said, "Many fraction areas are built near LAC in Eastern Ladakh. China has collected heavy force and arms and ammunition near LAC and in the nearby area on their side. Our forces have also effectively done counter deployment." "Since last year, we have maintained relationship with China on military and diplomatic levels. During the talks, we told China that we want solution of the issue based on three principles. First, both parties must agree on LAC and respect it. Secondly, there shouldn't be an attempt to change the status unilaterally, by any party. Thirdly, all the compromises should be completely agreed upon by both parties," he added.

New Delhi, Feb 11 (ANI): Amid the ongoing standoff with China at the Ladakh border area, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh makes a statement in Rajya Sabha on February 11, regarding the 'present situation in Eastern Ladakh'.
