COVID-19: Chennai vegetable market shifted to bus stand for ensuring social distancing

Chennai, Apr 02 (ANI): Villivakkam Vegetable Market has been temporarily shifted to the Villivakkam Bus Station in Tamil Nadu's Chennai. This step was taken to ensure social distancing among sellers and customers in view of coronavirus pandemic. Nationwide lockdown has been imposed in backdrop of coronavirus outbreak. There are total 234 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Tamil Nadu and one death. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of COVID-19 active cases rose to 1764 in India and 50 deaths.

29 of 32 new coronavirus patients attended Markaz event: Delhi Health Minister

New Delhi, Apr 02 (ANI): 32 more cases tested coronavirus positive in national capital in last 24 hours, out of which 29 cases are from Nizamuddin Markaz, informed Delhi Health Minister Satyender Jain. Jain said, "32 people were tested positive from yesterday (April 01) in Delhi out of which 29 people had attended Tablighi Jamaat event in Nizamuddin. A total of 700 possibly infected and confirmed cases of COVID19 are in different hospitals in Delhi."

Mumbai man distributes food, tea to cops amid coronavirus lockdown

Mumbai, Apr 02 (ANI): A man distributed food and tea to police personnel in Mumbai on April 02 amid coronavirus lockdown. Shailendra Patil is of the opinion that distributing eatables to cops is his duty and moral responsibility. Nationwide lockdown has been imposed in backdrop of COVID-19 outbreak. There are total 390 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Maharashtra including thirteen deaths and 42 cured patients. Home Minister Amit Shah, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan Singh and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also attended the meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Chennai Police Inspector takes form of 'corona-man' to spread awareness

Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Apr 02 (ANI): The Chennai police ran an awareness campaign on pandemic coronavirus in the busiest and crowded market place of the city. Police Inspector, Rajesh Kumar entered the market with a unique 'avatar' by wearing coronavirus themed helmet and carrying 'coronavirus shield and a mace.' The police man insisted people to not come out unnecessary and stay at home. The creative Chennai Police also requested people to maintain social distance of one meter.

Multiple hospitals affected in Mumbai after Dharavi man dies of coronavirus

Mumbai, Apr 02 (ANI): Mumbai's Dharavi area has reported first death due to COVID-19 on April 02. The deceased lost his life at Sion Hospital and had symptoms like fever, cough and respiratory issues. He also had a co-morbid condition of renal failure. The BMC authorities have also stamped and quarantined all those who had come in contact with the victim. There are total 390 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Maharashtra including thirteen deaths and 42 cured patients. Sai Hospital Chembur is completely sealed and Saifee Hospital, Jaslok Hospital, Bhabha Hospital and Hinduja Hospital are partially affected due to exposure to COVID-19 patients. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of COVID-19 active cases rose to 1764 in India and 50 deaths.

Fire engulfs Bamboo Bazaar in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Apr 02 (ANI): A massive fire broke out at a Bamboo Bazaar in Karnataka's Bengaluru on April 02. The fire occurred at around 03:30 am in Shivaji Nagar area of Bengaluru. At least 19 fire tenders reached the spot to douse the flames. The reason of fire is unknown still and more details are awaited in this regard.

Ramadal Trust is conducting the 'yagna' in Ayodhya for well being of human beings. Yagna is a ritual which is performed with a specific objective or aim. There are total 119 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Uttar Pradesh including two deaths. WHO praises PM Modi's initiatives to fight COVID-19

Geneva (Switzerland), Apr 02 (ANI): World Health Organization (WHO) has welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dollar24 billion package, including free food rations for 800 million disadvantaged people for the next 3 months to fight the coronavirus pandemic. WHO's Director-General Tedros Adhanom praised India's dollar22.6 billion economic stimulus plan - announced after a 21-day lockdown imposed last week - to provide free food rations for 800 million disadvantaged people, cash transfers to 204 million poor women and free cooking gas for 80 million households for the next 3 months. The head of the World Health Organization voiced deep concern about the rapid escalation and global spread of COVID-19 cases from the new coronavirus, which has now reached 206 countries and territories.

COVID-19: Relief material meant for needy in PoK sold to retail stores by Pakistani officers

Mirpur (PoK), Apr 02 (ANI): The government employees in Pakistan have sold relief materials, meant for the poor and needy, to retail stores amid coronavirus lockdown in the country. The shocking incident was reported from Mirpur district of PoK. While locals are deprived of essential commodities including wheat flour in Mirpur amid COVID-19 pandemic, Pakistan government is looking the other way. While speaking to media, one of the local said, "The supply of essential commodities should be made smooth. The supply of products should not be disturbed at any cost." Another local added, "The officials said that a truck full of wheat flour has come and you can go to Mini Mart to purchase it. But, they refused to sell wheat flour outside and also denied us for the same." "We are standing here from last one hour and they are not giving us wheat flour and told us to come tomorrow, or day after tomorrow," he added.

Pune startup developing low-cost, portable ventilators amid coronavirus pandemic

Pune (Maharashtra), Apr 01 (ANI): A startup company in Maharashtra's Pune is working to develop low-cost ventilators in fight against coronavirus pandemic. According to NOCCA Robotics, these ventilators will cost below Rs 50,000 per unit, and will majorly help two and three tier cities of the country. One of the founders of NOCCA Robotics, Nikhil Kurele said, "Our objective was to build a portable ventilator."

Kerala's strawberry farmers unable to sell produce amid coronavirus lockdown

COVID-19: Temples remain closed for devotees on 'Ram Navami' amid lockdown

New Delhi/ Mumbai, Apr 02 (ANI): Delhi's Shiv Shakti Temple remained closed on April 02 on the occasion of 'Ram Navami' for devotees amid coronavirus lockdown on ninth day of 'Chaitra Navratri'.
