Heavy snowfall and drastic change in climatic conditions worry locals of Gilgit Baltistan

New Delhi, Jan 25 (ANI): Exploitation of natural resources by Pakistan and China in Giglit- Baltistan that affects the ecology and demography of the region remains a major concern for the local residents. Extensive snowfall or floods caused due to melting glaciers is a symbol of climate change affecting the region, which is under Pakistan's illegal occupation. The ill effects of environmental degradation and large scale deforestation by Pakistan and now China have started showing up. As part of its multi-billion dollar China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Beijing has made huge investments in the mining and highway projects in Gilgit Baltistan.At the behest of the Islamabad, Chinese companies are reportedly plundering natural resources in the region. It includes gold, platinum, cobalt and precious gemstones like Topaz and Aquamarine. Arrangements are in place for Republic Day celebrations: J-K DGP

Doda (J-K), Jan 25 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP), Dilbag Singh visited Doda to review arrangements ahead of Republic Day celebrations. He said, "I have just returned from Srinagar where I paid a visit to all the parts of Kashmir including central Kashmir, Srinagar. 7 over ground workers associated with LeT and Hizbul arrested in JandK's Awantipora

Awantipora (JandK), Jan 25 (ANI): In a joint operation of Army, CRPF and JandK Police, seven persons have been nabbed from different areas of Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora. The nabbed persons were used to provide shelter and other necessities to the terrorists. Their links to Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen have also come into light. Huge cache of arms and ammunition were also recovered. Further investigation is underway.

Kathmandu (Nepal), Jan 25 (ANI): Nepal Finance Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada on India's decision ban imports of refined palm oil, said Himalayan nation had no intimation and decision came as a shock. "25 per cent of our exports to India is related to palm oil industry, so that will adversely affect our industry. There was no prior indication, so it was like a shock. We do hope that Indian government will reconsider its decision. We are discussing this through our diplomatic channel, if necessary we can also go through political channel," said Nepal FM.

Chained inmates rescued from old-age home in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Jan 25 (ANI): Police rescued at least 73 people after some were found locked in a room and several others locked at an old-age home in Nagaram village, on the outskirts of Hyderabad. A case has been registered under Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 against the management of the old-age home. Police said, "Case of cheating registered against the management of the old age home after a complaint was received that Psychiatric patients and mentally-disturbed persons are being confined in a house with chains and being treated inhumanly. Investigation is underway."
