87th IAF Day: Indian Air Force organises air show at Hindon Air Base

Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh), Oct 08 (ANI): Indian Air Force celebrated the 87th IAF Day at Hindon Air Base in Ghaziabad. Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman led a 'MiG formation' and flew a MiG Bison Aircraft during the event. IAF officers who participated in Balakot airstrike, flew 3 Mirage 2000 aircraft and 2 Su-30MKI fighter aircraft in 'Avenger formation'. Three Chinook transport helicopters flew in 'Chinook formation' on Indian Air Force Day. IAF was founded on Oct 8, 1932 and force participated in several crucial wars and landmark missions.

Plogger Ripu Daman Bevli commences 'plogging' run in Kolkata

Kolkata, Oct 08 (ANI): India's first plogger, Ripu Daman Bevli commenced his run in Kolkata under 'Run To Make India Litter Free' on Oct 08. Locals also took part in the initiative along with Ripu. Under 'Run To Make India Litter Free', Ripu will be running and cleaning up 50 cities across India. Plogging is a combination of jogging with picking up litter. While speaking to ANI, Ripu Daman said, "We had decided to come here during Durga Puja, to clean pandals. Our run will culminate in Delhi on November 3. We don't want people to clean up, we want people to be so responsible that they stop littering. Let's not crib, we are also responsible for the litter."

Service Chiefs attend 87th IAF Day celebration at Hindon Air Base in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh), Oct 08 (ANI): Indian Air Force celebrated the 87th IAF Day at Hindon Air Base in Ghaziabad. IAF Chief, Air Chief Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria was present at the ceremony. Army Chief General Bipin Rawat and Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Karambir Singh were also marked their presence. IAF was founded on Oct 8, 1932 and force participated in several crucial wars and landmark missions. During the ceremony, Air Chief Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria said, "Indian Air Force is grateful for nation's trust and confidence in us and the support provided. On behalf of all the air warriors, I assure the nation of our sacred resolve, defending the sovereignty of our skies and safeguarding our national interest at all cost."

RTA officials paste stickers on autos hailing Jagan Reddy for Vahana Mitra scheme

Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh), Oct 08 (ANI): The officials of Andhra Pradesh Road and Transport Authority (RTA) were seen pasting stickers of Cheif Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy on autos here on Tuesday, claiming that the drivers want to thank the YSRCP chief for introducing Vahana Mitra scheme. Motor vehicles inspectors and constables of the RTA pasted stickers this morning, who said that auto drivers want to thank the Chief Minister for extending a helping hand through the newly launched scheme. The Vahana Mitra scheme was introduced on October 4 to provide financial aid of Rs 10,000 per annum to auto drivers for maintenance expenses. The period of applying for the scheme has been extended till the end of October. The scheme is applicable for the owners of vehicles and not for those who drive rented autos.

Navratri: Students, teachers perform 'Garba' holding sanitary napkins in Surat

Surat (Gujarat), Oct 08 (ANI): The students and teachers have performed 'Garba' dance holding sanitary napkins in their hands in Gujarat's Surat on October 07. Students and teachers of Institute of Design and Technology (IDT) have performed 'Garba' holding sanitary napkins to create awareness about women's hygiene. While speaking to ANI, one of the student said, "We want to create awareness about the importance of using sanitary napkins. Even though people in some parts of the country are comfortable with the issue, it is still a taboo in several rural regions." "A lot of people shy away from talking about this issue. We feel proud of being a woman and this is part of it," she added. Over 150 students of the institute performed 'garba' with sanitary napkins in their hands. Boys also participated in the event to spread the message of women's hygiene as they are also aware of the gravity of this issue.

'Wasn't involved in incident for which I'm framed': BJP MLA on FIR against him for rash driving

Tikamgarh (Madhya Pradesh), Oct 08 (ANI): An FIR has been registered against BJP MLA from Kharagpur, Rahul Singh Lodhi after three people died upon being allegedly hit by his car in MP's Tikamgarh on Oct 07. While speaking medipersons, Lodhi denied being involved in the case. He said, "My car wasn't involved in the incident, I was in Phuter the entire day. I had called my driver there. He told me about the accident that he witnessed involving 2 autos and a bike. I'd informed the Thana Incharge too. They're people (deceased) of my constituency, I'll meet them tomorrow. I'm being framed for an incident in which neither I nor my vehicle was involved. Police should investigate the auto-rickshaws involved." Though, investigation is underway.

Vijaya Dashami: Women participate in 'Sindur Khela' at Delhi's CR Park puja pandal

New Delhi, Oct 08 (ANI): Several women participated in 'Sindur Khela' ceremony on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami in the national capital on October 08. The event took place at a puja pandal in Delhi's Chittaranjan Park. Vijaya Dashami marks the day when one bids adieu to Goddess Durga. With a heavy heart, Bengali community immerses the clay idol of the goddess on this day. 'Sindur Khela' is a process in which ladies offer sweets, sindur and other items to the idol. It is a purely function of married ladies. The women, who take part in the 'Sindur Khela' apply vermillion on the idol's face and feet with betel leaf, offer sweets and smear each other with sindur.

3 arrested in murder case of local BJP leader, his family in Maharashtra's Jalgaon

Jalgaon (Maharashtra), Oct 08 (ANI): Police have arrested three persons in connection with the murder of local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ravindra Kharat, three of his family members and one of his son's friend in Maharashtra's Jalgaon district on October 07. While speaking to ANI, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Bhusawal Panjabrao Ugale said, "Three people have been arrested in connection with case wherein BJP leader Ravindra Kharat, three members of his family and his son's friend, were killed by unidentified miscreants in Bhusawal on October 06." Five persons had died after some unidentified persons opened fire at a local BJP leader and his family members at their residence in Bhusawal city around 9:30 pm. According to the police, the assailants had used guns and knives in the attack and then fled the spot. The police had detained the accused persons in the matter the same day. A case has been registered and further investigations are on.

Amritsar (Punjab), Oct 08 (ANI): A candle march was organised for the victims of train accident which took place on October 19, last year. SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia participated in the rally along with the kin of victims. While taking part in the candle march, Bikram Singh said, "Be it poor or rich all are same. Aspirin might decrease harm caused by air pollution

New Delhi, Oct 08 (ANI): In a new study, it has been found that aspirin might be capable of reducing the adverse effects of air pollution. The findings published in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine highlight that nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like aspirin may lessen the effects of air pollution exposure on lung function. Researchers analyzed a subset of data collected from a cohort of 2,280 male veterans from the greater Boston area who were given tests to determine their lung function. The average age of participants was 73 years.
