Woman injured in bomb blast in WB's Hoogly

Hoogly (West Bengal), Jun 25 (ANI): A bomb blast took place in Bandel area of West Bengal's Hoogly today. The bomb was lying on the roadside in a steel box at Netaji Park area. A 35-year-old vegetable seller got injured in the incident. She was rushed to Chinusura Sadar Hospital. The area is densely populated. Police investigation is underway.

Tax officials raid 'kachori' seller with over 60 lakh annual turnover

Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh), Jun 25 (ANI): An outlet 'Mukesh Kachori Bhandar' has come under the radar of Commercial Tax department for not paying tax and not getting registered under the GST (Goods and Service Tax) Act. Commercial tax officials raided the shop in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh as their income is over 60 lakhs. Mukesh, the shopkeeper said, "My shop was raided on June 20. My daily sale is around Rs. 2000-3000. Modi Ji had said that GST registration is required in turnover of more than Rs 40 lakh, my income is not even half of it. These people are threatening me now." AK Maheshwari, Commercial Tax Officer, Aligarh said, "The Shop was raided it has been found that on the basis of their annual turnover, they neither pay tax nor they have registered their business under GST Act. On investigation it has been found that their income is more than 60 lakh."

District hospital in JandK's Samba lacks basic medical facilities, only 3 doctors for urgent cases

Samba (Jammu and Kashmir), Jun 25 (ANI): Locals in Jammu and Kashmir's (JandK) Samba district are facing great difficulty in cases of medical need. The only hospital in the area does not have sufficient number of doctors or basic facilities. Despite being a district hospital, it lacks sufficient number of doctors and other provisions to deal with urgent medical cases. A local said, "This maybe a district hospital but there are not even basic facilities here. There are very few doctors. If a doctor gets transferred, he never comes back, no doctor comes in his replacement, if a patient comes in emergency he is referred to Jammu." Deputy Medical Superintendent of hospital Dr Anju Kumari said, "6 doctors are on leave. Orthopedic section has doctors so services are being given there, surgeons are here, physician is also on leave. We have only 3 doctors for casualties. It is tough to run the hospital with only 3 doctors."

Rajasthan farmer suicide case: Will deliver promises made in manifesto, says Deputy CM Sachin Pilot

Jaipur (Rajasthan), Jun 25 (ANI): Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Sachin Pilot responded to the alleged suicide of a farmer who accused Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Deputy CM Sachin Pilot for his act in his suicide note. Pilot said, "If there is any death in the state or if someone commits suicide it's a tragic incident. We will have to discuss its reason seriously. Whatever limited information I have received, farmer was not under debt but since the matter in under investigation, we shouldn't comment on it." Farmer, Sohan Lal allegedly committed suicide on Sunday leaving behind a note apparently written by him, in which he accused Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Deputy CM Sachin Pilot of not fulfilling its pre-poll promise of waiving bank loans.

Contractual nursing officers stage protest outside Union Health Minister's residence in Delhi

New Delhi, Jun 25 (ANI): The contractual nursing officers of central government from Safdarjung Hospital and other hospitals staged protest near Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan's residence over suspension issue. Protesters alleged that they've been suddenly terminated from services. A protester told ANI, "Nearly 5,000 nursing staff is required in hospitals, then why are we being terminated? They're using policy of use and throw." Contractual nursing officers of central government from Safdarjung Hospital, Ram Manohar Lohia hospital, Lady Hardinge hospital, Kalawati hospital and others joined the protest.

Haryana Jail Minister supports Ram Rahim's parole application

Chandigarh, Jun 25 (ANI): Haryana Jail Minister Krishan Lal Panwar defends government's move on rape convict Gurmeet Ram Rahim's parole. He said the decision has nothing to do with upcoming assembly election in Haryana. While reacting on a question, Krishan Lal Panwar said, "Don't link it (Ram Rahim's parole) with election. If there would have any electoral agenda hidden behind this then we would have had done this before the Lok Sabha elections itself." A recent study has found that drinking a cup of coffee can stimulate 'brown fat', the body's own fat-fighting defenses, which can fight against obesity and diabetes. Published in the journal 'Scientific Reports', the study is one of the first to be carried out in humans to discover components that can have a direct effect on 'brown fat' functions, an important part of the human body, which plays a key role in how fast calories can be burnt into energy. The team used a thermal imaging technique to trace the body's brown fat reserves. The non-invasive technique helped the team to locate brown fat and assess its capacity to produce heat. "From our previous work, we knew that brown fat is mainly located in the neck region, so we were able to image someone straight after they had a drink to see if the brown fat got hotter," said Symonds.

These young minds are running plantation drive in Kalaburagi since 2017

Kalaburagi (Karnataka), Jun 25 (ANI): A group of young doctors, engineers and students along with government employees are planting saplings across the Kalaburagi in Karnataka since 2017 to make the district greener. The group which planted 1000 saplings in 2017 and 1400 in 2018 has called their mission "10K warriors" and is also inviting volunteers to participate in the plantation drive. Dr Naganath Yadgir, one of the members of the group told ANI, "When we were little, temperature in Kalaburagi in summers used to be around 34-35degreeC, but now it goes up to 47degreeC. So we decided to do something for environment. We started this initiative in 2017 and planted 1000 saplings that year and planted 1400 saplings in 2018."
