Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), April 29 (ANI): Kerala Health Minister KK Shailaja on April 29 alleged that vaccine companies stated that they will supply the vaccine in May end or early June. Speaking to ANI, Shailaja said, "It's the duty of the Centre to supply vaccines. We are placing the order but the vaccine companies are saying that they will supply the vaccine only in May end or early June. This one month delay will be dangerous. We need vaccine urgently to save lives,"

COVID-19: Russia sends humanitarian assistance to India

New Delhi, Apr 29 (ANI): Russia sent humanitarian assistance to India due to second wave of COVID-19 in the country. "The Russian Federation decided to send humanitarian assistance to India in the spirit of the special and privileged strategic partnership between our two countries as well as in the context of our anti COVID-19 cooperation. For this purpose, two urgent flights, operated by Russian EMERCOM arrived here today. These are oxygen concentrators, lung ventilation equipment, bedside monitors, medicines, including Coronavir and other essential pharmaceutical items," said Ambassador of Russia to India, Nikolay Kudashev. He further said, "Joint fight against coronavirus one of the most important areas of our cooperation at present. It also includes forthcoming deliveries of Sputnik V vaccine starting from May 2021 and the subsequent facilitation of its production in India, cooperation in field of medical science."

105-year-old man, his 95-year-old wife defeats COVID

Latur (Maharashtra), Apr 28 (ANI): A 105-year-old man and his 95-year-old wife recovered from COVID-19 in Maharashtra's Latur. After the couple complained of fever, they were admitted to Vilasrao Deshmukh Institute of Medical Sciences. Doctor Sudhir Deshmukh said, "The elderly couple was hospitalised for 10 days in Vilasrao Deshmukh Institute of Medical Sciences in Latur. They were put on oxygen support and also given doses of the antiviral."

CoWin portal Chief urges people to be patient ahead of 3rd phase vaccination

New Delhi, Apr 28 (ANI): RS Sharma, Chief of CoWin portal, where eligible people register themselves for vaccination, on April 28 said urged citizens to be patient while getting themselves booked for the drive. Guwahati (Assam), April 28 (ANI): Amid oxygen crisis across the country, Assam has signed MoUs with three manufactures of liquid oxygen in the state. While speaking to ANI, state Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on April 27 said, "We have signed MoUs with three manufactures of liquid oxygen. These three plants will give us 10.5 MT oxygen per day. With this, our total capacity has gone up to 66 MT."

IAF aircraft airlifts 2 tankers from Indore

Indore (MP), Apr 27 (ANI): An Indian Air Force C-17 transport aircraft on April 27 carried two empty oxygen tankers from Indore to Jamnagar in Gujarat. Tankers, loaded with medical oxygen are scheduled to travel from Jamnagar to Indore by road. Tankers cannot be transported by IAF aircraft as the gas is considered flammable and may pose a threat.

Rohtak (Haryana), Apr 27 (ANI): As the country is witnessing exponential surge in COVID-19 cases, Nodal Officer for COVID-19 at Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) Rohtak Dr Dhruv Chaudhary suggested to wear a double mask as it prevents the COVID infection by 85% to 88%. "The latest research shows that wearing a double mask- a surgical mask and a cloth mask together prevents COVID-19 infection by 85% to 88%. I urge people to wear a mask to prevent the spread of infection, it is not a fashion statement," said Dr Dhruv Chaudhary.
