In a step to ease their lives, Punjab Police in collaboration with an NGO took a unique initiative in Amritsar. They distributed baby food products to needy around the city. Coronavirus cases have surpassed 200 in the state of Punjab.

Srinagar (JandK), Apr 19 (ANI): Wreath-laying ceremony performed in Srinagar for 3 CRPF jawans who lost their lives during an encounter with terrorists on April 19. Rajeev Sharma from Bihar, CB Bhakare from Maharashtra and Parmar Stayapal Singh from Gujarat are the jawans who lost their lives in attack. New Delhi, Apr 19 (ANI): Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on April 19 informed about the coronavirus situation in Delhi. "There are a total of 1893 positive cases in Delhi including 186 cases from yesterday. We have got 42,000 rapid testing kits. The trial run has been started at LNJP hospital. It will be used in hotspot areas. Our target is to do 42,000 tests in one week's time," he told ANI.
Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Apr 19 (ANI): Niomi Shah, first COVID-19 positive case of Ahmedabad was discharged from the hospital yesterday after completely recovering from coronavirus. She said, "I was hospitalised on March 17 and now finally getting discharged after testing negative twice. It has been a long journey".
Ludhiana (Punjab), Apr 19 (ANI): A total of 300 US citizens were evacuated from Punjab's Ludhiana by special flight from Delhi Airport. The flight has been arranged by the US embassy on April 18. Operations of domestic and international flights were suspended by the Central govt in the view of COVID-19 pandemic.
Bhubaneswar (Odisha), Apr 19 (ANI): Amid deadly coronavirus situation in country, people are stepping out to help each other. In a recent example, a landlord of Bhubaneswar, Saudamini Samant Rai, waived off one month's rent for 7 tenants. She said, "Lockdown period is a tough time for everyone. Those living as tenants here have small scale businesses or are employees in small companies. I wanted to help them during this time".
Nithari (UP), Apr 19 (ANI): Amid coronavirus outbreak, domestic helper working in high rise buildings is now finding it difficult to make their ends meet. Speaking to ANI, she said that she needs medicines for her 14-yr-old daughter who is suffering from heart disease but she don't have single penny. "I am very worried as my 14-yr-old daughter is suffering from heart disease. She needs medicines and I don't have a single penny to buy her medicines. My husband is a rickshaw puller even he doesn't work these days."
New Delhi, Apr 19 (ANI): Auto-rickshaw drivers in the national capital, who are forced to give up their source of income and sit idle at home are facing problems amid the coronavirus lockdown. "I do not get enough food to fill my stomach. I feel like a beggar without any money. If we go out then police beat us up. I get food from a school nearby. I have a family, but do not even have money to provide them food," an auto driver told ANI. Movement of all vehicles, except for those providing essential services and commodities, is prohibited during the lockdown imposed to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Another driver, Pramod said that he is facing financial problems as he has to pay rent of the room to the landlord. "I am facing a big financial problem as I do not have any regular income now. I am driving auto today, as there was an emergency case and I am taking the passengers to hospital," he said. The lockdown, which was originally scheduled to continue till April 14, has been exten

During this hard time, hospitals equipped with isolation chambers and equipments can play a crucial role to save lives. Considering the gravity of the situation, Thane's Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation has prepared 20 beds ICU chamber in less than 15 days to treat COVID-19 patients. The ICU at Pandit Bhimsen Joshi Hospital consists of 20 beds with 18 ventilators. The ICU chamber also has 36 doctors 62 nurses and other staff to treat patients. The ICU fulfills the entire international standard and is ready to treat the patients.
New Delhi, Apr 18 (ANI): Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a meeting with top officials to take stock of the current situation regarding COVID-19 pandemic. The ministry had set up a 24/7 control room to coordinate with all the states. So far India has reported 14378 COVID-19 cases along with 488 deaths. Of all the states, Maharashtra is on top with 3323 COVID-19 cases and 201 deaths.
Rajnandgaon (Chhattisgarh), Apr 18 (ANI): In Chhattisgarh, Naxals set ablaze to seven vehicles who were engaged in road construction in Rajnandgaon district on April 18. Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Naxal operation, G.N. Baghel said, "ITBP personnel have been sent to search the area. Contractor was asked to keep vehicles in a safe place near a police post during lockdown."
New Delhi, Apr 18 (ANI): In just 15 minutes, now doctors can find out whether a person is coronavirus positive or not. "The 'Rapid Antibody Detection Test Kit' can detect coronavirus from a body in just 15 minutes," said National Institute of Malaria Research's (NIMR) Scientist, Himmat. ANI reporter has volunteered to showcase rapid tests here. The reporter was tested negative for COVID-19. This test kit may help the nation to map the spread of the disease.
Patna (Bihar), Apr 18(ANI): A woman died after a boat loaded with ration materials and around 24-26 people overturned in River Ganga in Patna on April 18. The overloaded boat had hit the Pipa Pul in Patna city before it overturned. So far, SDRF has rescued one woman and her son. One dead body was also found. Further rescue operation by NDRF and SDRF is underway. "Around 2-3 people are still there, rescue operation is underway," says SDRF personnel.
