Delhi to go under lockdown from March 23 to 31

New Delhi, Mar 22 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that only certain essential services will be functional under lockdown which will be imposed from 6 am of 23rd March to midnight of 31st March. CM Kejriwal said, "No transport services allowed are allowed. Only 25 percent DTC buses are on roads. Shops, commercial establishment, bazaar to remain closed. All the borders adjoining neighbouring states have been closed. All national and international flights suspended are also suspended."

Private companies to provide salaries to all employees during lockdown: CM Kejriwal

New Delhi, Mar 22 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced lockdown in national capital which will be imposed from 6 am of 23rd March to the midnight of 31st March. He informed that certain essential services will continue to work as normal during the lockdown. He said, "During the lockdown in Delhi, no document or proof will be sought from a person if they say that they are out on streets to provide or avail any essential service." He further added, "All private offices will remain closed but the employees - both permanent and contractual - will be considered to be on-duty. The companies will have to provide them the salary for this duration."

COVID-19: 'Have capacity to conduct 10,000 tests per day', says ICMR DG

New Delhi, Mar 22 (ANI): Director-General Indian Council of Medical Research Balram Bhargava on March 22 informed, "We have conducted 15,000-17,000 tests so far. We have the capacity to conduct 10,000 tests per day; it means we can conduct 50,000-70,000 per week: Indian Council of Medical Research Director-General Balram Bhargava."

COVID-19: Centre asks States to put 75 districts with positive cases under lockdown

New Delhi, Mar 22 (ANI): Health Ministry Joint Secretary Luv Aggarwal on March 22 informed that Central government has asked state governments to issue directions to the 75 districts that have positive cases to stop all services except the emergency services. Uttarakhand CM announces state-wide lockdown till March 31

Dehradun (Uttarakhand), Mar 22 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat announced a state-wide lockdown after observing Janta Curfew's affect. He said, "After the nationwide 'Janta Curfew' that was observed today against coronavirus, we have decided to continue the curfew in the entire state till 31st March. However, essential services, such as food and medicines, will be available for all." He further added, "We've decided that inter-city and inter-state bus services will remain suspended till 31 March. People should travel minimum during the lockdown, they should not rush from the city or village they are living in at present to other places."

Coronavirus: Delhi Metro suspends services till March 31

New Delhi, Mar 22 (ANI): In view of increasing cases of coronavirus in the country, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) suspended its services till March 31st to combat spread. DMRC took strict decision as lakhs of passengers use its services daily for commuting. The metro services will operated for essential internal operational maintenance activities during this duration and security of the system will continue to be taken care of by CISF, DMRC said in a statement. Noida-Greater Noida metro, city bus services will also be suspended till March 31 with immediate effect, declared NMRC.

Heavy shelling by Pakistan at Hiranagar border in J-K

Kathua (Jammu and Kashmir), Mar 22 (ANI): Pakistani rangers initiated heavy shelling in residential areas of Hiranagar sector of Kathua District in Jammu and Kashmir. COVID-19: Indian Railways cancels all passenger trains till March 31

New Delhi, Mar 22 (ANI): Indian Railways has decided to cancel all passenger trains till March 31 to combat spread of coronavirus. Trains which had already commenced their journey prior to 4am today will run up to their destinations. Passengers who booked prior tickets will get 100 percent refund.
