Auto, taxi drivers laud 'Janata Curfew' of PM Modi in Delhi

New Delhi, Mar 22 (ANI): The nation is going to observe 'Janata Curfew' on March 22 where auto-rickshaws and taxis will be off-road but this move has not deterred the spirit of these people as they lauded the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the fight against coronavirus outbreak despite the fact their earnings will be hit as against other days. While speaking to ANI, one of the auto driver said, "If we are alive then only we can earn. This decision is taken for our own good. This disease is very dangerous. People can adjust for 3-4 days. We totally support the move by Modi government." Sharing the similar sentiment, one of the cab driver said, "The decision taken by PM Modi is for the longer good. Though, we will face difficulty but we want to get rid of this disease as quickly as possible." Positive cases of COVID-19 rise to 27 in Delhi

New Delhi, Mar 22 (ANI): According to Health Department of Delhi, number of positive cases of novel coronavirus in Delhi rose to 27. Out of the 27 positive cases, 20 people are currently admitted in various hospitals, five people have been discharged while one person has migrated out of the country. One person has lost his life due to coronavirus in Delhi. In India, total number of positive cases of COVID-19 has gone up to 315. The WHO has declared COVID-19 a pandemic.

Instagram tests disappearing DMs

New Delhi, Mar 22 (ANI): Instagram is testing a new feature which will let you send traceless DMs to your friends. Reverse app engineer Jane Manchun Wong tweeted on the feature in action, where the message once seen by the recipient disappears instantly. However, the feature is said to be in an "early barebone version," according to Wong. In response to her tweet, Instagram's PR team wrote, "We're always exploring new features to improve your messaging experience. This feature is still in early development and not testing externally just yet!".

15 jawans airlifted to Raipur for medical aid in Sukma naxal encounter

Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Mar 22 (ANI): A massive encounter broke out between District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawans and naxals in forests of Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Sukma district on March 21. Around 15 DRG jawans sustained injuries in the fierce gun-battle with naxals. They have been airlifted to Raipur and being brought to Ramkrishna Care Hospitals for medical aid. The encounter took place near Minpa area in Sukma. More details are awaited in this regard.

COVID-19 can remain infectious for days on surfaces, reveals study

New Delhi, Mar 22 (ANI): As people are taking precautionary measures to combat the spread of the deadly coronavirus, a new scientific study has found that the virus that causes COVID-19 remains for several hours to days on surfaces and in aerosols. The study published in the New England Journal of Medicine said that people may acquire the novel coronavirus through the air and after touching contaminated objects. Scientists discovered the virus is detectable for up to three hours in aerosols, up to four hours on copper, up to 24 hours on cardboard and up to two to three days on plastic and stainless steel. The study attempted to mimic the virus being deposited onto everyday surfaces in a household or hospital setting by an infected person through coughing or touching objects, for example. The scientists then investigated how long the virus remained infectious on these surfaces.

Indian Railways cancels all trains on Sunday due to Janata Curfew

New Delhi, Mar 22 (ANI): In the wake of 'Janata Curfew' being declared on March 22, all over Indian Railways, no train will start from its originating station from 4 am to 10 pm informed Chief Public Relation Officer of East Coast Railway, JP Mishra. He further informed, "Trains that have started from originating station and are on run before 4 am of March 22, 2020 will be allowed to run upto their destination stations." In East Coast Railway, 48 express trains and 93 ordinary passenger trains are cancelled. In total 141 trains cancelled by East Coast Railway. The step has been taken after PM Modi declared 'Janata Curfew' to be held on March 22. The total number of positive cases of coronavirus has climbed to 315.

Sukma naxal encounter: 14 jawans airlifted to Raipur for treatment

Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Mar 22 (ANI): An encounter broke out between security forces and naxals in forests of Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Sukma district on March 21. The encounter took place near Minpa area in Sukma. Around 14 District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawans sustained injuries in the fierce gun-battle with naxals. 111 labs across country functional from today for coronavirus testing: Govt

New Delhi, Mar 21 (ANI): Joint Secretary of Health Ministry, Lav Agarwal on March 21 said the Director General of ICMR had a discussion with states to make 111 labs functional across the country for testing of coronavirus. Lav Agarwal said, "111 labs across the country will be functional from today. A discussion has been going on with private sector labs as well. A detailed order regarding the same will be released by today evening." Union Health Ministry has informed that a total of 298 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the country. Out of the total number, four people have died and 22 others have been recovered.

215 evacuees at ITBP's quarantine facility tested negative, await 2nd test

New Delhi, Mar 21 (ANI): All 215 evacuees from Italy staying at Indo-Tibetan Border Police's (ITBP) quarantine facility in Delhi has been tested negative for coronavirus. Evacuees are staying at the quarantine facility from last seven days. Group includes 151 males and 64 females. Most of these evacuees are students studying in Italy. However, the second and final sampling will be done on 14th day of the quarantine period and if that also results as negative, then all these 215 persons will be released from the facility.
