'Andher Nagri Chaupat Raja' atmosphere in country: Sonia Gandhi

New Delhi, Dec 14 (ANI): Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and other leaders on December 14 held 'Bharat Bhachao' rally in the national capital. She slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government by saying a prominent Hindi phrase, 'Andher Nagri Chaupat Raja' and countrymen are asking where 'Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas' is? "Today the atmosphere is such that whenever they feel like they impose an Article, revoke an Article, change the status of a state. Whenever they feel like, they revoke President's Rule and pass Bills without debate," said Sonia Gandhi.

PM Modi takes boat ride to inspect clean Ganga initiative in Kanpur

Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh), Dec 14 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a boat ride in river Ganga at Atal ghat on Dec 14. PM Modi was accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Bihar Deputy CM Sushil Modi and Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Rawat. Earlier in the day, he chaired the first meeting of National Rejuvenation, Protection and Management of River Ganga Council. PM Modi also reviewed the project and progress work done under Namami Gange programme. He also interacted with the concerned officials to take note of their ideas. Kanpur has a population of more than three million spread over an area of 260 Sq. km. The pollution of river Ganga was compounded with the unregulated industrial discharges from around 400 leather tanning industries and inefficient and inadequate common effluent treatment plant (CETP). Curfew relaxed in Assam's Guwahati for 7 hours

Guwahati (Assam), Dec 14 (ANI): Curfew was relaxed in the city of Guwahati which was imposed in the wake of protests against Citizenship Amendment Act. The curfew was relaxed from 9 AM to 4 PM. Locals were seen on roads and railway stations in large numbers. Local markets and petrol pumps saw huge rush after the relaxation in curfew. Protests erupted in Guwahati and other parts of Assam after the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 was passed in Parliament. The internet services have been suspended in 10 districts of the state.

Speaking at the rally, Congress general secretary for UP East, Priyanka Gandhi, said that country's Constitution will be destroyed if people will not raise their voices. "I would like to tell every citizen of this country - raise your voice. You love this country, become its voice. If we don't raise our voice, stay back in the darkness of fear and lies even in these circumstances, and stay quiet then our Constitution will be destroyed. We will be as much responsible for this as much as the arrogant and lying leaders of BJP-RSS," Priyanka Gandhi said.

Man rapes 8-year-old daughter multiple times in MP's Neemuch, arrested

Neemuch (Madhya Pradesh), Dec 14 (ANI): A man was arrested for sexually assaulting his own 8-year-old daughter in Madhya Pradesh's Neemuch. Neemuch Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Rakesh Mohan Shukla said, "Child line's Counsellor talked to the girl after receiving a phone call. It was found that 3 years back her mother had left them. Her father works as a labourer and sexually assaults her at night after consuming alcohol. FIR has been registered and the man has been arrested." He further added, "Girl was sent for medical exam and sexual assault was proven. Accused Ramesh Deora has been arrested. SIT is formed and investigation in the matter is on."

Assamese sit on 'dharna' against CAA in Mumbai

Red sandalwood smuggling racket busted in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Dec 14 (ANI): A special operations team of Rachakonda has busted an inter-state red sandalwood smuggling racket in Hyderabad. The special operations team of LB Nagar Zone in Rachakonda has busted the gang with the help of Hayathnagar Police. Two persons have been arrested and around 137 kg of red sandalwood logs have also been seized from their custody.

Re-postmortem of Ayesha Meera, killed in 2007, conducted after exhuming mortal remains

Tenali (Andhra Pradesh), Dec 14 (ANI): The re-postmortem of Ayesha Meera, who was killed in 2007, was conducted in Andhra Pradesh's Guntur district on December 13. Her re-postmortem was conducted after exhuming her mortal remains from Chenchupet burial ground in Tenali. She was found murdered in her hostel's bathroom in 2007. One Satyam Babu was sentenced to life term in the case and was later acquitted by High Court in 2017. The High Court had ordered for CBI inquiry on November 29, 2018 and CBI had started its inquiry in January 2019.

Valedictory ceremony of Combat Aviators conduct in Maharashtra's Nashik

Nashik (Maharashtra), Dec 14 (ANI): The valedictory ceremony of combat aviators was conducted in Maharashtra's Nashik on December 14. The event took place at Combat Army Aviation Training School (CATS) which is located at Gandhi Nagar Airfield in Nashik. The ceremony was presided over by Major General AK Suri, Additional Director General Army Aviation. 43 officers were awarded the coveted 'Aviation Wings' to become Combat Helicopter Pilots after having successfully completed the Combat Aviators Course Serial Number 32. Seven officers from the Army Aviation Corps were awarded the 'Aviation Instructor Badge' for having successfully qualified the Aviation Helicopter Instructor Course Serial Number 31. The ceremony was marked by a combat of demonstration by the mainstay aircrafts of the Army Aviation Corps.

MANPAC holds candle light vigil in wake of CAB protests in Imphal
