New Delhi, Dec 13 (ANI): HRD Minister R Pokhriyal reacted on Central Sanskrit Universities Bill, which was introduced in LS and stated that the bill will help the students to pursue higher studies in Sanskrit language. "Under this bill, 3 deemed Sanskrit universities have been made central universities. These universities will help students pursue higher studies in Sanskrit language," said HRD Minister.

CM Kamal Nath inaugurates All India Police Water Sports competition in Bhopal

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Dec 13 (ANI): Chief Minister Kamal Nath inaugurated the 19th All India Police Water Sports competition in Bhopal. Well-known national and international players will participate in the competition. There will be kayaking, canoeing and rowing events in the competition. Nirbhaya case: Hearing will take place through video conferencing at Patiala Court, informs Advocate

New Delhi, Dec 12 (ANI): Nirbhaya rape and murder case advocate in Patiala Court, Seema Kushwaha informed that the hearing will begin at 10:00 am in the morning at Patiala Court tomorrow (December 13), the hearing will take place through video conferencing. "Tomorrow, December 13, 2019, there is a hearing on the petition which we filed on December 13, 2018. The court asked all the stakeholders to be present there in the court for the hearing," said Advocate Seema Kushwaha. She further added, "The court also asked the 4 convicts to be present but their physical presence is not possible due to security issues. Thus, they will be there through video conferencing. The hearing will begin at 10:00 am in the morning in Patiala Court."

Sensex, Nifty close on positive note led by metals and banks

New Delhi, Dec 12 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices mirrored global sentiment and extended gains after making a positive start on Thursday. The Union Cabinet's nod to Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code amendment and the government's approval to a partial credit guarantee scheme for government-owned banks to purchase high-rated pooled assets from financially sound non-banking finance companies boosted the investor sentiment. The BSE SandP Sensex surged ahead by 169 points at 40,582 while the Nifty 50 ticked up by 62 points at 11,972.

Maharashtra IPS officer quits over 'communal, unconstitutional' CAB

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Dec 12 (ANI): A Special Inspector General of Police (IGP) in Mumbai resigned from his position against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2019. "Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2019 is against the spirit of Constitution. As Civil Disobedience Movement, I have decided to not attend office. Either my application for VRS should be accepted or my letter should be accepted as my letter of resignation," said Abdur Rahman while speaking to ANI. The Bill was passed in both of the Houses in the Parliament.

SC dismisses all review petitions in Ayodhya title dispute case

New Delhi, Dec 12 (ANI): Supreme Court dismissed all the review petitions in Ayodhya case judgment on December 12. Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind president, Arshad Madani said, "We are sorry to hear it. Not all the review petitions are rejected, some of them are heard also." Speaking on the development, Hindu Mahasabha lawyer Vishnu Shankar Jain said, "These are the informations coming from your end. But if it has been dismissed then I welcome it. This is a future of further step for construction of the Ram Temple."

YSRCP women MLAs tie 'rakhi' to CM Reddy for 'Disha' Act

Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh), Dec 12 (ANI): Women legislators of YSRCP, on December 12, tied 'rakhi' (sacred-thread) to Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for introducing the 'Disha' Act for the women safety. The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet on December 11 under CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy approved the enactment of the Andhra Pradesh Criminal Law (Amendment) Act also known as the 'Disha' Act that provides for harsher punishments, including the death sentence, to those guilty of heinous crimes against women. As announced earlier in the Assembly by Chief Minister, in the presence of adequate conclusive evidence in cases of crime against women such as rape, acid attacks among others the judgment must be pronounced within 21 days and trial must be completed in 14 days.

People of Northeast are against CAB irrespective of religion: Ghulam Nabi Azad

New Delhi, Dec 12 (ANI): Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said that North-Eastern states are suffering from worst situation after the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 was passed in both the Houses of the Parliament. Speaking to ANI, Ghulam Nabi Azad said, "Unrest is across the country from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. But worst situation is in North-Eastern states, as a result of the passage of Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in both the Houses. People of Northeast, irrespective of religion, are against the bill." CAB was passed in Rajya Sabha on December 11 with a majority of 125 votes against 105.

Watch: India-China troops practice insertion by helicopters during joint training exercise

Shillong (Meghalaya), Dec 12 (ANI): India-China troops participated in 'Hand-in-Hand 2019' exercise in Meghalaya's Shillong. Indian and Chinese troops practiced insertion by helicopters. The exercise is being held at Umroi Cantonment in Shillong, Meghalaya as part of the eighth such exercise between the two sides. The 14-day joint training exercise began on December 07.
