Shivamogga (Karnataka), Oct 15 (ANI): The Traffic Police of Karnataka's Shivamogga district conducted an awareness drive through bike rally on October 14. The bike rally was held to spread awareness among people about new traffic and road safety rules. Police officials were carrying placards carrying different awareness messages including -'Drive Don't Fly', 'Use Your Head, Use A Helmet' etc. The main aim behind conducting bike rally was to create alertness about wearing helmet while driving.
New Delhi, Oct 15 (ANI): With a dip in mercury in the national capital, air quality recorded in 'Poor' category on October 15. According to Air Quality Index (AQI), major pollutants particulate matter 2.5 remains at 214 and particulate matter 10 at 211 both in 'Poor' category. The air quality was recorded near Lodhi Road in Delhi. Earlier, CM Arvind Kejriwal had requested state governments to take measures as air quality is deteriorating day by day.
Bhiwandi (Maharashtra), Oct 15 (ANI): Ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections, while addressing a public gathering in Bhiwandi city of Thane district in the state, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi said, "If you (Prime Minister Narendra Modi) think with Triple Talaq Bill you have done justice to Muslim women then this is a wrong perception." "If you really want to do justice then on behalf of all Muslims in Maharashtra I request you to give them reservation like Maratha," Owaisi added.
Imphal (Manipur), Oct 15 (ANI): Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh inaugurated a Neurosurgery ward at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) in Imphal on October 14. He laid the foundation stone for construction of 18 private wards at JNIMS. Jaipur (Rajasthan), Oct 15 (ANI): While speaking to media on state cabinet's decision to discontinue pension of prisoners detained under Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA), Urban Development and Housing Minister of Rajasthan Shanti Dhariwal said, "Medical facilities will be regularised but pensions will be stopped as we don't consider them to be freedom fighters."
Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Oct 15 (ANI): The Anakapalle Police recovered 'ganja' (cannabis) of around 40 Kg in Visakhapatnam district on October 14. They recovered cannabis from an auto and also arrested four persons in this regard. Further investigation is underway in the case.
East Medinipur (West Bengal), Oct 15 (ANI): A Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Basudeb Mondal was allegedly murdered by unknown miscreants in West Bengal's East Medinipur district on October 14. Basudeb Mondal who was also a former Panchayat pradhan of Bakcha Gram Panchayat was killed using sharp-edged weapons by unknown miscreants. Agitated locals staged a protest for over three hours and blocked the highway from Moyna to Balaipanda. The incident occurred at around 2:00 pm at Arangkiyarana village when Mondal was coming back from his daughter's house. Police later recovered his body. Further investigation is underway. TMC MP from Tamluk parliamentary constituency Dibyendu Adhikari blamed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the murder. While speaking to ANI, he said, "Agitated locals blocked the roads here after the incident occurred. Hyderabad, Oct 15 (ANI): Railway Police successfully rescued a two-year-old girl who was kidnapped from Secunderabad railway station on October 14. The police were able to trace the toddler by inspecting CCTV footage. Elaborating on the case, Railway Police inspector Adi Reddy said, "We had received a complaint from a man D Suresh that his daughter was missing. The girl was found from a nearby area and we are now working towards tracing the accused." "The father along with his son Prabhas and daughter Swarnalatha, arrived at Secunderabad Railway Station to board a train to Nellore District on Sunday night. While waiting for the train, all three slept and upon waking up, Suresh discovered that his daughter was missing," he added. In the CCTV footage, an unknown person is seen picking up the girl from the station premises. A case has been registered under Section 36 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Bagdogra (West Bengal), Oct 15 (ANI): The last rites of Naik Subash Thapa were performed at his native place in West Bengal's Bagdogra on October 14. He lost his life in a ceasefire violation by Pakistan in the Nowshera sector of Jammu and Kashmir on October 11. Naik Subash Thapa was rushed to hospital, where later he succumbed to injuries. He served the Indian Army for eight years.
Ramban (J-K), Oct 15 (ANI): In order to avoid any untoward incident the district administration of J-K's Ramban district has banned vehicular traffic except three and two wheelers on Bailey bridge over river Chenab. The order has been issued by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of J-K's Ramban district Nazim Zai Khan. While speaking to ANI, Nazim Zai Khan said, "Keeping in mind the safety of citizens of Ramban district in Jammu and Kashmir the four-wheeler vehicular movement has been temporarily suspended. We will only allow two and three wheeler to move on roads." "The strength of the bridge is getting lower as it was constructed in 1962. We can't put anyone's life at stake so it will be closed temporarily," DC added. A team of experts is inspecting the bridge to finalise the report for strengthening the bridge and make it traffic worthy. It is felt necessary for safety of public at large, that heavy vehicular traffic needs to stop plying on the said bridge.
New Delhi, Oct 15 (ANI): Fare payment system Cubic Transportation Systems has teamed up with Google Pay to offer contactless transit payments. Using Google Pay, riders will be able to pay for journeys in cities like New York, Vancouver, Sydney, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego. Travellers can already purchase transport tickets using Google Pay in the city of London, Engadget reports. Users can reload funds and purchase tickets from their mobile device by adding a transit card to Google Pay. This reduces the need for carrying a physical travel card.
Gonda (Uttar Pradesh), Oct 15 (ANI): A case of medical apathy was reported in Uttar Pradesh's Gonda district on October 14. A woman alleged that a unborn baby of her relative died due to medical negligence. The incident took place at District Women Hospital. While speaking to ANI, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Gonda, Dr Anant Prakash Mishra said, "She was referred from UP's Balrampur district. It was a case of intrauterine fetal death." "It wasn't possible to do an operation in Gonda so she was referred to Lucknow," CMO added.

It's not just about convenience; a more consistent treatment may also help people keep more of their vision. AMD is a degenerative eye disease that happens when part of the retina is damaged. The damage happens when new, weak blood vessels form behind the retina at the back of the eye. These abnormal vessels leak, causing scarring and killing off the cells that allow us to see. One main reason why is that patients are undertreated. This is because most people with AMD must go to the ophthalmologist's office every four to eight weeks for an injection directly into their eye (oftentimes in both eyes). New Delhi, Oct 15 (ANI): A team of special cell of Delhi Police arrested a criminal named Pratham Anand alias Tushar in the national capital on October 14. He was arrested after a brief exchange of fire near Bhalswa landfill at around 9:00 pm. A semi-automatic pistol and live cartridges were recovered from the custody of Pratham Anand.
Mumbai, Oct 15 (ANI): Ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly Elections, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh conducted roadshow in Mumbai on October 14. He held the roadshow in Mumbai's Goregaon area. Defence Minister also campaigned for some of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates in Mumbai. The elections for the 288 Assembly seats in Maharashtra will be held at 96,661 polling stations on October 21. The results of the election will be declared on October 24.

"In the last 4 months, Delhi's air quality has been in 'Good' category. The smoke coming from outside is increasing pollution levels again. Request all state governments to also take measures. Researches and media reports state pollution levels to increase from last week-Oct to mid-Nov," said Delhi CM.
Nandurbar (Maharashtra), Oct 14 (ANI): BJP Working President JP Nadda in Maharashtra while addressing a public gathering in poll-bound Maharashtra promised that in the near future seats will be reserved for people from tribal communities in Lok Sabha. "JandK doesn't mean only Baramulla and Sopore but extends from Zanskar to Udhampur. People from Gujjars and Bakerwal tribal communities staying in border areas of Poonch, Rajouri and Udhampur are 'Rashtra-bhakts' they help security forces in protecting the nation," JP Nadda said. He added, "But the three families who did politics in Jammu and Kashmir never reserved a seat for the tribal community in the state assembly. Now, people from tribal communities will reach Lok Sabha and Gujjar and Bakerwal will reach the state assembly."
