Prayagraj (UP), Oct 03 (ANI): Heavy rainfall led to water-logging situation at Rambagh Railway Station in Prayagraj city of Uttar Pradesh on October 03. Railway tracks got completely drowned in water. Normal life took a hit due to flood in low lying areas.

Maharashtra Assembly polls: Aaditya Thackeray files nomination from Worli

Mumbai, Oct 03 (ANI): Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray filed his nomination from Worli assembly constituency on October 03. Aaditya is the first of his family to contest an election in five decades since his grandfather Bal Thackeray founded the Shiv Sena. Maharashtra assembly elections will be held on October 21. Before filing nominations, Thackeray also held a mega road show in Mumbai where hundreds of his supporters came to support him.

J-K will be one of the most developed states within 10 years: Amit Shah

New Delhi, Oct 02 (ANI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that Jammu and Kashmir will become one of the most developed states in India within10 years. While speaking at the flag-off ceremony of Vande Bharat express train from Delhi to Katra, Shah said, "Before abrogation of Article 370, there were many obstacles in J-K's path to development. In next 10 years, J-K will be one of the most developed states. The journey of development has begun, with Vande Bharat Express set to boost tourism in state." He further added, "I am proud that this 'Made in India' train is being flagged-off from here today. The Railways is working towards achieving its targets keeping in mind principles of speed, scale and service."

Amit Shah flags off Delhi-Katra Vande Bharat express train

New Delhi, Oct 03 (ANI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal flagged off Delhi-Katra Vande Bharat train on October 03 from Delhi. Several other ministers also attended the event including Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Harsh Vardhan and Minister of State in PMO, Jitendra Singh. The train will bring down the travel time between Delhi and Katra, the last station on the way to Vaishno Devi temple, to eight hours from the current 12 hours. The luxury all air-conditioned chair car service with 16 coaches is an engine-less self-propelled train set which allows for faster acceleration and deceleration, therefore reducing travel time by 40 percent.

Indian Army starts 2-day recruitment drive in Srinagar

Srinagar (J-K), Oct 03 (ANI): Indian Army held a recruitment drive in Srinagar on October 03. This recruitment drive commenced today and will take place till October 04. The recruitment process is divided into several categories and rounds which includes physical fitness test, medical test and written test. Recruitment drive includes more than 3,000 vacancies in the Kashmir Valley.

Bihar Floods: Death toll mounts to 73, informs State Disaster Mgmt Secy

Patna (Bihar), Oct 03 (ANI): While speaking to ANI, Principal Secretary of Disaster Management Department of Bihar, Pratyaya Amrit said that 73 people have died in rain-related incidents in the state. "According to yesterday's estimates, 73 people died and 9 injured due to flood. Pump we brought from Coal India had technical issues. If it starts working today, we'll clear water from Rajendra Nagar," informed Amrit.

Durga Puja pandal created on water conservation theme in WB's Siliguri

The committee has taken such initiative in order to create awareness among the people especially children and youth on the importance of water conservation. The committee has been organising the pandals on various environmental themes and this is their 69th year of Durga Puja celebration. "This time we have come with save water awareness message. Google starts testing Assistant in Chrome for ticket booking

New Delhi, Oct 03 (ANI): Google has reportedly started testing a new feature for Chrome that leverages its Assistant-based automation engine, Duplex. As 9to5 Google reports, the company appears to be rolling out the voice-based reservation system for movie ticket booking in Chrome. The Duplex option will be available when you are looking for showtimes. Supported screens will show the Google Assistant prompt to 'Buy tickets' for a quick ticket booking.

9 prisoners walk free from Aligarh jail on Gandhi Jayanti

Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh), Oct 03 (ANI): Nine prisoners were released from the district jail in Aligarh on the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. These nine prisoners had completed their jail term but could not get out as they failed to pay the cash fine imposed on them. "Radha Rani Vrindavan Trust has paid their fine. Their total fine was Rs 34,500. They were not involved in serious crimes," a police official told media. The prisoners were released after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the release of 150 prisoners from prisons across the state, who have completed their sentence but cannot be released due to the non-payment of monetary penalty. As per the Chief Minister's order, inmates lodged in district jails of Ghaziabad, Rampur, Varanasi, Lucknow, Bijnor, Aligarh, Bahraich, Khiri, Kanpur, Gautam Budh Nagar, Sultanpur, Meerut, Agra, Muzaffarnagar, Mirzapur, Baghpat, Maharajganj, Hardoi, Moradabad, Bareilly, Raebareli, etc., were released.
