Criminal carrying bounty of Rs 20, 000 arrested in UP's Amroha

Amroha (Uttar Pradesh), Sep 07 (ANI): An encounter broke out between police and criminals in Uttar Pradesh's Amroha on September 06. A wanted criminal who suffered bullet injury was arrested. He was wanted in several cases and carried a bounty of Rs 20,000 on his head. Meanwhile, the other criminal escaped from the spot. Police seized one motorbike and one pistol from their custody. The injured goon has been admitted to the hospital for medical treatment. Investigation is underway and combing is going on to arrest the escaped criminal.

Empathetic traffic cop distributes slippers to needy in Ludhiana

Ludhiana (Punjab), Sep 07 (ANI): In a sheer example of humanity, a traffic cop distributes slippers to poor people. Assistant Sub-Inspector of city traffic police in Ludhiana, Ashok Kumar displays his humanitarian side by this welcoming gesture. The idea of distributing slippers came into his mind when he saw barefoot poor people walking on streets during his duty. Kumar has been doing this good work from one year. He purchased 50 pairs of cheep slippers and put them into his patrol van, whenever he spots a barefoot poor he distributes slippers to them.

Minister Javadekar inaugurates Molecular Ecology and Conservation Genomics Laboratory

Dehradun (Uttarakhand), Sep 07 (ANI): Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar on September 7 attended annual meeting of Wildlife Institute of India in Uttarakhand's Dehradun. After the meeting Javadekar also inaugurated Molecular Ecology and Conservation Genomics Laboratory and training guest house there. "This laboratory is one of its kind and we are proud that the laboratory is in India, said Javadekar. Wildlife Institute of India is also playing a key role in protection of Great Indian Bustard birds."

Ladakh Agriculture Department organises vegetables, flowers Expo in Leh

Leh (Ladakh), Sep 07 (ANI): Kisan Mela cum Exhibition (Vegetables and Flowers Expo-2019) was organised in Leh on September 06. This exhibition was organised by Department of Agriculture and Forest Department, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC)-Leh/ Himalayan Forest Research Institute (HFRI)-Shimla. Deputy Chairman of LAHDC, Leh Gyal P Wangyal inaugurated the exhibition at Leh Indoor Stadium. Leh is fully prepared to cater the industry with locally grown food products after being declared as UT. A wide range of vegetables, fruits and flowers were presented by the local farmers who later got awards for the same. There were stalls of local handicrafts and food items which were installed by several Self-Help Group (SHGs).

ISRO has achieved several landmarks till date: Kapil Sibal on Chandrayaan-2

New Delhi, Sep 07 (ANI): India's ambitious second lunar mission Chandrayaan 2 was expected to make its soft landing on the surface on the moon on September 07. However, Chandrayaan 2's lander 'Vikram' lost communication with the ground stations just minutes before soft landing. While speaking to ANI, veteran Congress leader Kapil Sibal said, "In research and human achievements there is no end. In the cosmic universe every research will be new and unique. At one point no one knew that earth is round in shape nut today we have reached somewhere else. Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has started its work in 1969 and achieved several landmarks till date."

Flash flood: SDRF team rescue people in Uttarakhand's Pithoragarh

Mumbai, Sep 07 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid foundation stone of three metro lines in Mumbai on September 07. This project will together add more than 42 kms to the metro network of the city. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and newly appointed Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari were also present during the event. PM Narendra Modi onboard a state of the art metro coach, the first metro coach which is manufactured under the Make in India project. Earlier, PM Modi also offered prayers at Lokmanya Seva Sangh Tilak Mandir in Vile Parle area of Mumbai.

Bangladesh makes hat-trick as it lifts Subroto Cup U-17 Girls

New Delhi, Sep 07 (ANI): Subroto Cup International Football Tournament of U-17 Girls concluded at Ambedkar Stadium in Delhi on September 06. Subroto Cup is Asia's largest youth football meet. The tournament saw participation of 112 teams, including 16 international teams. Bangladesh Krida Shiksha Prothishtan (BKSP) thrashed Nilmani English School, Manipur, 4-0 in the final of the Diamond jubilee edition of Subroto Cup (under-17 girls). The tournament is organised by the Subroto Mukerjee Sports Education Society under the aegis of Air Force Sports Control Board and is supported by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Ministry of Human Resource Development and the Sports Authority of India.
