This 106 kg chocolate Ganpati idol is winning hearts

Ludhiana (Punjab), Sep 02 (ANI): For fourth year in a row, a Sikh restaurateur and chocolatier in Ludhiana has prepared an edible Ganpati idol with pure dark Belgian chocolate to celebrate the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi. The idol will be immersed in milk for Ganesh Visarjan and will be turned into chocolate milkshake and will be served to underprivileged children, thus giving out a message of celebrating eco-friendly Ganesh Chaturthi. First year, they made 40 kg Ganesha, second year they made 55 kg, third year they made 65 kg and this year they made 106 kg Ganpati idol. While speaking to ANI, the restaurateur said, "We are giving the message to the environment. It is possible to bring eco-friendly Ganesha to our home. We should save our environment."

Onam kick starts in Kerala with fervour and enthusiasm

Kochi (Kerala), Sep 02 (ANI): One of the prime festivals of Kerala, Onam kick started in the state with religious fervour and enthusiasm from September 1. The annual harvest festival which is celebrated in August and September falls on 22nd Nakshatra Thiruvonam in the Malayalam calendar called Chingam. The state seeps into festive mood during this festival that started on September 1 and will be on till September 13. As per the legends, Onam is celebrated to commemorate King Mahabali. It is said that the King's spirit visit Kerala at the time of the auspicious festival. Each day is given a different name and there are specific celebrations on each day. This festival is amalgamation of all the colors, history, culture and its beliefs of Kerala together.

WB Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar meets injured BJP MP Arjun Singh in Kolkata

Kolkata, Sep 02 (ANI): West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar met BJP leader Arjun Singh at Apollo Hospital in Kolkata on September 02. Singh sustained a head injury during a clash between his party activists and the police in Shyamnagar area on September 01. While speaking on Bengal's current situation, Dhankhar said, "State of West Bengal needs peaceful atmosphere. State of WB does not need violence." Bandh has been called WB's North 24 Parganas against the attack.

Sikh delegation reaches Pak High Commission over forced religious conversions in Pakistan

New Delhi, Sep 02 (ANI): A delegation of Sikh community reached Pakistan High Commission in the national capital on September 2. They reached High Commission to give a memorandum over the forced religious conversion in the neighbouring country. Recently, a Sikh girl was allegedly forced to convert his religion to Islam before being married to a Muslim man. Protests have also erupted over the forced conversion in Delhi.

Pathankot (Punjab), Sep 02 (ANI): IAF Chief Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa and Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman on September 02 flew a sortie in a MiG-21 fighter aircraft from the Pathankot Airbase. It was Air Chief Marshal Dhanoa's last sortie in combat aircraft. "Both of us have 2 things in common - 1st, both of us ejected and 2nd, both of us have fought Pakistanis. I fought in Kargil, he fought after Balakot. 3rd, I have flown with his father. It's an honour for me to do my last sortie in IAF, in a fighter aircraft, with his son," said IAF Chief while talking to ANI.

3-day long International Snacks Festival organised in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Sep 02 (ANI): The three-day-long International Snacks Festival was organised at the Ameerpet Metro Station in Hyderabad. Army Vice Chief Lt General MM Naravane lays wreath at National War Memorial

New Delhi, Sep 02 (ANI): Vice Chief of the Army Staff, Lieutenant General Manoj Mukund Naravane laid wreath at National War Memorial in the national capital on September 02. 25 BJP supporters injured in clash with TMC workers in WB's North 24 Parganas

North 24 Parganas (West Bengal), Sep 02 (ANI): Around 25 supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) injured in a clash with Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers in North 24 Parganas's Barrackpore city on September 02. BJP has called for a 12-hour bandh in Barrackpore as they are protesting against the attack on party's MP Arjun Singh on September 01. The injured have been taken to a hospital for medical treatment. Pathankot (Punjab), Sep 02 (ANI): IAF Chief BS Dhanoa and Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman on September 02 flew a sortie in a MiG-21 fighter aircraft from the Pathankot Airbase. During Pakistani counter attack on India on Feb 27 in response to Balakot airstrikes, Abhinandan had flown a MiG 21 Bison fighter into PoK. His jet crossed across the border after striking down a Pakistani aircraft during a dogfight.

Retired BSF personnel arrested for smuggling brown sugar in Tripura's Amtali

Amtali (Tripura), Sep 02 (ANI): Police have arrested two persons, including a woman, with 10 grams of brown sugar in Tripura's Amtali on September 01. While speaking to ANI, Inspector of Amtali Police Station Subrata Chakraborty said, "The two were caught red-handed while they were trying to transport the consignment of 10 gram brown sugar hidden in a car from Agartala to southern Udaipur city." He added that the driver of the vehicle, Maran Shil, who had recently retired from the Border Security Force (BSF) and the woman are part of a bigger syndicate in the illegal drug trade. "The driver of the vehicle is retired BSF personnel, and along with Ranjita Ghosh, is part of a bigger illegal drug trafficking syndicate. We will produce both in court and ask for their remand in order to find out the names of the others who are involved in the illegal trade," Chakraborty added. Further investigations are underway.

Marine police recovers 500 kg of 'sea cucumber' along Mandapam coast in TN
