Mumbai, Oct 12 (ANI): Electricity supply was interrupted in Mumbai on October 12 due to TATA's incoming electric supply failure causing power loss all over Mumbai and suburbs. It also disrupted train traffic of Central, Eastern and Western lines, according to Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST). Passengers were seen waiting at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) as local train services are disrupted due to power outage in Mumbai. Speaking to ANI, a commuter said, "We are stuck here since 10:00 am." Another commuter added, "We are clueless about how long we will have to wait here." Commuters were also seen waiting at Mulund Station as train services are disrupted due to power outage after a grid failure. BMC said, "It will take 45 minutes to 1 hour to restore the power supply." New Delhi, Oct 12 (ANI): Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh laid foundation stone for Nechiphu Tunnel on road to Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh via video conferencing. Defence Minister also inaugurated 44 bridges on October 12 made by Border Roads Organisation (BRO) across seven States/Union Territories, via video-conferencing. Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Bipin Rawat, Indian Army chief MM Naravane and MoS Dr Jitendra Singh were present on the occasion. Addressing the event, Rajnath said, "The construction of these bridges will facilitate military and civil transport in our western, northern and north-east areas." "Our armed forces personnel are deployed in large numbers in areas where transport is not available throughout the year," Defence Minister added. "Even during the lockdown period, BRO continued operations in the North-Eastern states, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. New Delhi, Oct 12 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a commemorative coin of Rs 100 in honour of Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia, through a virtual ceremony on October 12. The special coin minted by the Ministry of Finance was released in celebration of her birth centenary. "Rajmata Scindia dedicated her life to poor people. Mumbai, Oct 12 (ANI): The local train services between Pune to Lonavala have been started on October 12. The train services began only for essential service providers. Daily two local trains from Pune to Lonavala and vice versa are scheduled to run for essential service providers. Every passenger travelling is provided with e-pass by Pune City Police which is considered as permission for traveller to board the train.

Ghaziabad (UP), Oct 12 (ANI): A massive fire broke out inside a plastic factory in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad. Around 8 vehicles of the fire department were sent to take care of the situation. Pakur (Jharkhand), Oct 12 (ANI): Jharkhand police has arrested one person in illegal possession of explosives from Hiranpur area of Pankur. The incident happened on Oct 11. The explosives have been sized by the police. SP Manilal Mandal said, "100 kgs of high explosive ammonium nitrate, 400 pieces of power neo gel and two motorcycles were seized. Efforts are on to nab the other accused."
Hathras (UP), Oct 12 (ANI): The family members of Hathras alleged gang-rape victim left for Lucknow on Oct 12. The family has been given full police security. They will appear before Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court later in the day. SDM Anjali Gangwar said, "I am going with them. Proper security arrangements have been made. District Magistrate (DM) and Superintendent of Police (SP) is also accompanying us."
Krishna (Andhra Pradesh), Oct 12 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Police busted an IPL betting racket in Krishna and arrested 18 persons for their alleged involvement in illegal betting on IPL 2020. Police also recovered 17 mobile phones, Rs 6.45 lakhs cash and a TV among other things.
Hooghly (West Bengal), Oct 12 (ANI): Protesters blocked railway tracks at Pundooah railway station in WB and demanded train services on October 11 demanding train services claiming that they face difficulty in commuting by special trains during the lockdown. Some special trains are being run exclusively for railway employees while common passengers have to manage their travelling in the limited number of trains running due to the pandemic. Protesting against the travelling exclusivity, passengers at Pundooah railway station have stopped the rail service by putting a huge stone on the railway line.

Jaipur (Rajasthan), Oct 12 (ANI): ADG of Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Rajasthan, Ashok Kumar Rathore said, "Based on information, raids were conducted in five locations across Hyderabad, Delhi, Jaipur and Nagaur in connection with illegal betting on the cricket matches being played at IPL, 2020. With the help of local police, ATS officials have taken into custody 7 people each from Hyderabad and Jaipur for interrogation. Accused from Delhi and Nagaur locations are yet to be nabbed. We are further investigating the matter."
Tonk (Rajasthan), Oct 11 (ANI): An Illegal arms factory was busted by police in Rajasthan's Tonk. Two persons have been arrested in this connection and several machines and equipments to make country made pistols have been seized by the police. The illegal arms factory was being run by the accused for a long time. Further investigation by the police is underway.
Kalaburagi (Karnataka), Oct 11 (ANI): Amid COVID-19 pandemic, people were seen moving without masks in a Karnataka's Kalaburagi market on October 11. "Mostly the youth is taking it very lightly. It's important to use masks, distance and sanitise," says Dr Deshmukh, COVID-19 Committee, Kalaburagi Medical College. Meanwhile, the total number of active cases in Karnataka stands at 1,20,948.

The cases are definitely rising. But the mortality rate is not as high as other states. The ultimate aim is to reduce the mortality rate." New Delhi, Oct 11 (ANI): An ambulance driver who served COVID-19 patients by carrying their corpses to crematorium died of coronavirus. Arif Khan resiliently redeemed his duties and carried bodies of COVID-19 patients to crematorium got infected from the invisible enemy and succumbed to the virus. In COVID times, several family members unfortunately didn't accept bodies of their loved ones, who died from the virus but Arif carried the bodies and performed their last rites with his fellow drivers of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sewa Dal. Arif got infected from the virus on October 1 and was admitted to hospital after testing positive of COVID-19. He came home but again admitted to hospital and succumbed to virus on October 10. Arif will be remembered as a true COVID warrior in memories of people to whom he served.
Srinagar (J-K), Oct 11 (ANI): People in large numbers participated in the 'Pedal for Peace' cycle race organized by J-K's police in Srinagar on October 11. The Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Khan and IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar flagged off sub junior boys/girls and veteran men categories in Nehru Park. People in large numbers came out of their cosy beds to participate in the race. Locals lauded administration's initiative to organize cycle race. High levels of air pollution in Delhi is a year-round problem, which can be attributed to unfavourable meteorological conditions, farm fires in neighbouring regions and local sources of pollution. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, however, has announced 'some bold measures' to control the pollution level this time.
