Computer chipset firm AMD expects the deployment of its latest GPU-based high-performance computing platform Helios to begin in the second half of this year across several countries, including India, a top company official said.
The company aims to capitalise on the demand for AI and proposed data centre capacity ramp-up by global technology giants.
AMD, senior director for data centre GPU product marketing, Mahesh Balasubramanian, told PTI that a single Helios rack integrates 72 interconnected MI455X (AMD GPUs) accelerators, delivering up to 2.9 exaflops of FP4 (number format used in AI) compute performance per rack.
The expected deployment timeline refers to global customer deployments of Helios systems, including India. Initial deployments are expected to begin in the second half of 2026, Balasubramanian said.

Former Raymond chairman Vijaypat Singhania died here on Saturday evening, his family said.
He was 87.
His son Gautam Singhania, the group's current chairman and managing director, announced the death on the microblogging platform 'X'.
Singhania passed away "peacefully" in Mumbai, and the last rites will be performed on Sunday, a Raymond Group spokesperson said.
Vijaypat Singhania, a recipient of the Padma Bhushan, was also a keen aviator and held a world record for the highest altitude gained in a hot air balloon.
He led Raymond as chairman for two decades till 2000. After handing over the reins of the company to Gautam, Vijaypat also transferred his entire 37 per cent stake in the company to his son.
Vijaypat Singhania and his son were embroiled in legal disputes some years ago, but later they settled the issues.

A Delhi-bound IndiGo flight from Visakhapatnam, carrying 160 passengers on board, made an emergency landing at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport on Saturday due to an engine failure, according to sources.
"Full emergency was declared at Indira Gandhi International Airport at 10.39 for IndiGo Visakhapatnam-Delhi flight 6E 579 due to one engine failure," a source said.
There were 160 passengers on board the Boeing 737 aircraft, the source said.
The flight landed at 10.59 am as per flight tracking website flightradar24.com.

The West Asia crisis has pushed freight costs for Europe-bound cargo up by 60-80 per cent, with exports falling by as much as 50 per cent for some exporters while hundreds of containers got stranded at Kolkata port, industry representatives said on Thursday.
Calcutta Customs House Agents Association (CCHAA) president Mannu Choudhary told PTI that freight charges have risen by over 40 per cent due to rerouting through the African route, while war surcharges imposed by shipping lines have taken the total cost escalation to 70-80 per cent for shipments to Europe and the US.
Exporters also complained of a shortage of containers.
"Shipping lines are denying freight details to exporters, who are now waiting. No fresh containers are being accepted by shipping lines," he said.
Choudhary said around 600 containers that had entered Kolkata port for loading were being returned to the city following last-minute cargo cancellations.
