Containment exercise to carry out in 21 areas of Delhi: CM Kejriwal

New Delhi, Apr 09 (ANI): Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal told that containment exercise will be carried out in 21 areas of the state. CM Kejriwal said, "Containment exercise will be carried out in 21 areas of Delhi where COVID-19 cases have been found. These areas will be completely sealed and residents will be home quarantined. Their contacts will be traced and would also be isolated. Essential services will be delivered to the residents' doorsteps."

1,30,000 samples tested so far, out of these 5,734 samples tested positive: ICMR

New Delhi, Apr 09(ANI): Home Ministry Joint Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava confirmed that amid nationwide lockdown, all state governments are taking required measures for the stranded people. Helpline numbers, food camps, shelters, relief camps are some of the initiatives Punya highlighted. ICMR further informed that around 1,30,000 samples have been tested so far and out of these 5,734 samples have been tested positive till date. "Positivity rate (for coronavirus) ranges between 3-5% in the last 1-1.5 months. It has not increased substantially," said ICMR.

Orders for 1.7 crore PPEs, 49,000 ventilators been placed: Health Ministry

New Delhi, Apr 09 (ANI): Joint Secretary of Health Ministry Lav Agrawal, while addressing a press conference in the national capital on April 09 informed that the supplies of PPEs, masks, and ventilators have now begun. 20 domestic manufacturers in India have been developed for PPEs, orders for 1.7 crore PPEs have been placed and the supplies have begun. 49,000 ventilators have been ordered.

4 kg wheat, 1 kg rice given to needy through online registration: Delhi Deputy CM

New Delhi, Apr 09 (ANI): Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia inspected MCD school in Shashi Garden area on April 09. While talking about on the food supply to needy families, Sisodia said, "Today the work involving distribution of ration to those people who don't have ration card has begun. In some schools it was started yesterday and from today, it has started in more schools. The work will be in full swing from tomorrow. 4 kg of wheat and 1 kg of rice are being given to needy through online registration. There are applications from 16 lakh people".

Total 5734 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 549 new cases in last 24 hours: Health Ministry

New Delhi, Apr 09 (ANI): Joint Secretary of Health Ministry Lav Agrawal, while addressing a press conference in the national capital on April 09 informed that till now, 473 people have been recovered and discharged from the hospital that were infected with the deadly coronavirus. He further added, "Total 5734 confirmed cases reported in the country till date, 549 new cases in the last 24 hours. 166 deaths have been reported till dates, 17 deaths since yesterday". Further talking about the involvement of Indian Railways in fight against coronavirus, Agrawal said, "Railways have deployed more than 2,500 doctors and 35,000 paramedics staff. Their chain of 586 health units, 45 sub divisional hospitals,56 divisional hospitals,8 production unit hospitals and 16 zonal hospitals are dedicating their significant facilities to fight COVID-19".

CM Bhupesh Baghel confirms 11 positive cases in Chhattisgarh

Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Apr 09(ANI): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel confirmed 11 positive cases in the state. He said, "Total positive cases in the state is 11, 9 out of them are recovered and were discharged." He said that the last positive case was found on April 08 therefore the entire area has been under complete lockdown. "Contact tracing of the case has been done," he added. Bhupesh Baghel further informed that 76,000 people in Chhattisgarh are currently under home quarantine.

COVID-19: Maharashtra Home Minister lambasts Delhi Police for allowing Nizamuddin Markaz event

Mumbai, Apr 09 (ANI): While talking about the spread of deadly coronavirus pandemic across the country after Nizamuddin Markaz event in Delhi, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh lambasted on Delhi Police for allowing such event to take place. He said that a programme similar to Delhi's Nizamuddin Markaz event was scheduled to be held near Mumbai in Vasai on March 15-16 but was not allowed by the state government. He asked that why didn't Delhi Police stop this programme like Mumbai Police did? He further added, "Because of this, COVID-19 cases have increased. The whole state machinery is trying its best to contain this pandemic. This new problem surfaced in Maharashtra and other states because of Delhi Police, who is responsible for this?"

Doctors forced to stay indoors after their areas declared 'hotspots' by UP govt

Noida (Uttar Pradesh), Apr 09 (ANI): Varun Vihar Enclave in Noida's Sector-28 was sealed after District Administration identified it as COVID-19 hotspot. All movements will be completely barred from the areas to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The UP government identified 23 hotspots on April 08 and sealed them completely. While speaking to ANI, a resident, Dr Nitin Ghonge, who is serving at Apollo Hospital in Delhi's Sarita Vihar said, "Doctors need to go to work, but we are not being allowed to go out of our society." Another resident who is serving at Apollo Hospital in Noida, Dr Sanchita Dubey said, "Order issued by DM is that emergency service providers will be allowed to go even from sealed areas but RWA sealed it and they are saying gate keys are with police. We have called on 112 but no one is receiving the call."

COVID-19: Residents stay indoors after Noida's Sectors 74, 79 declared as 'hotspots'

Noida (Uttar Pradesh), Apr 09 (ANI): Capetown Society in Noida's Sector-74 has been declared as 'containment zone' by the Uttar Pradesh Government on April 08. Security has been beefed up in the areas keeping in mind the coronavirus lockdown. On the other side, Hyde Park Society of Noida's Sector 79 was also declared as 'containment zone' yesterday. Police personnel have been deployed in the areas to maintain law and order situation. All movements will be completely barred from the areas to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Odisha becomes first state to extend lockdown till April 30

Bhubaneswar (Odisha), Apr 09(ANI): Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik extends lockdown in the state till April 30 amid coronavirus pandemic. With this, Odisha becomes the first state to announce the extension of lockdown. He further requested the Centre not to start railways and air services in the state till April 30. Noida (Uttar Pradesh), Apr 09 (ANI): CEO of Noida Authority, Ritu Maheshwari said that 12 COVID-19 hotspots were identified in Noida on April 8, of which 16-17 places fall under Noida Authority. "For all these areas, a list of vendors who can ensure doorstep delivery of fruits and vegetables is being prepared. Once the list is finalised, societies will be notified about it," said Ritu Maheshwari. Noida Authority CEO further assured that sanitisation drive across Noida is being conducted especially in the sealed areas. Ritu Maheshwari appealed to all to stay at home and not to panic at this time.
