Chittoor (Andhra Pradesh), Apr 07 (ANI): In wake of coronavirus outbreak, essential service staff are working day and night to combat the spread of the virus. Along with them, municipal sanitary workers are also striving to keep the cities clean. An engineer from Chittoor felicitated the municipality workers with garlands of cash and shawls as a token of gratitude. The other onlookers appreciated his efforts to motivate the workers. A total of 266 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Andhra Pradesh as of now.

Kerala administration sets up Walk-in Sample Kiosk to collect samples from COVID-19 patients

Ernakulam (Kerala), Apr 07 (ANI): Ernakulam District Administration has set-up Walk-in Sample Kiosk (WISK) to collect samples from those with COVID-19 symptoms. The Sample collection for current PCR test and Rapid test can be done using WISK. The kiosks have built-in gloves, which can be used by health workers as protective shield while collecting throat swab sample. The aim of Walk-in Sample Kiosk is to maintain social distancing between healthy workers and coronavirus patient.

Coronavirus pandemic: MGNREGA activities will resume in state, says Meghalaya Dy CM

Shillong (Meghalaya), Apr 07 (ANI): While addressing a press conference in Shillong on April 06, the Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Prestone Tynsong spoke on COVID-19 pandemic. He said, "MGNREGA activities will be allowed to resume in respective villages in Meghalaya. The wages and material components to the tune of Rs 534.6573 crore has been sanctioned and released to the respective Block Development Offices (BDO) for payment of wages and clearing the materials bills." "Construction works like road construction and other allied developmental programmes sanctioned by the government during last financial year is also allowed to restart from April 15," Meghalaya Deputy CM added. "The Cabinet also decided to allow the reopening of weekly markets in rural areas from April 15, provided that strict 'COVID-19' protocols as prescribed by the health department are adhered to," he further stated.

Rajnath Singh holds meeting of Group of Ministers over COVID-19 outbreak

New Delhi, Apr 07 (ANI): Union Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh held a Group of Ministers (GoM) meeting at his residence in Delhi over coronavirus outbreak on April 07. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar, Union Railways Minister Piyush Goyal, Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman were present among others in the meeting. A total of 3981 active cases of coronavirus have been reported in India so far. A nation-wide lockdown is imposed in the country till April 14.

COVID-19: Educational institutions will be closed till Apr 30 in state, says Meghalaya Deputy CM

Shillong (Meghalaya), Apr 07 (ANI): While addressing a press conference in Shillong, the Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Prestone Tynsong spoke on COVID-19 pandemic. He said, "The schools and educational institutions will be closed till April 30 and it will be reviewed further depending upon the prevailed situation." "The state government will extend financial assistance to all wage earners, daily labourers and petty traders who are out of work during the COVID-19 lockdown, under Chief Minister's relief against wage loss scheme for daily wage earners at rate of Rs 700 per week," Meghalaya Deputy CM added.

CM Yogi Adityanath chairs high-level meeting over coronavirus outbreak in Lucknow

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Apr 07 (ANI): Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath chaired a meeting at his official residence, over coronavirus in Lucknow on April 07. Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department Awanish Awasthi, heads of 11 committees, 12 Nodal Officers and other senior officers were present at the meeting. BMC declares locality as containment zone after man found COVID-19 positive near CM Thackeray's residence

Mumbai, Apr 07 (ANI): Posters declaring a locality, a containment zone were put up by BMC in Mumbai last night after a COVID-19 positive person was found near a government guest house. The government guest house is located near Matoshree, which is the private residence of Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray. A total of 748 positive cases of coronavirus have been reported in Maharashtra.

Part of bridge damaged in IED blast by naxals in Chhattisgarh's Sukma

Sukma (Chhattisgarh), Apr 07 (ANI): Part of a bridge damaged in an Improvised explosive device (IED) blast by naxals in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district. Equities edge higher on global cues, IT and banking stocks surge

New Delhi, Apr 07 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices moved up by over 4 per cent during early hours on Tuesday, mirroring gains in Asian markets amid tentative signs that coronavirus may be levelling off in New York and receding in Europe. At 10:15 am, the BSE S and P Sensex was up by 1,202 points or 4.36 per cent at 28,793 while the Nifty 50 ticked up by 349 points or 4.32 per cent at 8,433. All sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the green with Nifty private bank gaining by 7.2 per cent, IT and auto by 5.1 per cent each, pharma by 4.8 per cent and FMCG by 4 per cent. Among stocks, private sector lender IndusInd Bank jumped by 19 per cent to Rs 372.75 per share. Axis Bank and ICICI Bank too surged ahead by 11.9 per cent and 7.7 per cent respectively. Mahindra and Mahindra gained 13.1 per cent, Sun Pharma 7.5 per cent, HCL Technologies 7.3 per cent, Hindustan Lever 6.6 per cent and Infosys 6 per cent.

Warned Tablighi Jamaat attendees to surrender till Apr 08 or else will face legal action: Haryana Health Minister

Chandigarh, Apr 07 (ANI): Haryana administration warned Tablighi Jamaat attendees to surrender themselves till April 08 or else will face legal action. Speaking on it, Health Minister of Haryana, Anil Vij said, "We have traced around 1,526 Tablighis as of now. We have put all of them in quarantine and their tests are also underway. Some of them have been reported positive and their treatments are underway. We have given a warning for everyone else, who have attended Tablighi Jamaat, to surrender themselves In front of District Administration till April 08 at 5 pm and if they failed to do so, we will take suitable action against them under Disaster Management Act."

Meerut (Uttar Pradesh), Apr 07 (ANI): Amid growing threat of coronavirus, Meerut administration installed complete body sanitization cabin at the cantonment area. COVID-19 outbreak: Food and Civil Supplies Dept provides 2 months ration in JandK's Poonch

Poonch (JandK), Apr 07 (ANI): The Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs of Jammu and Kashmir provided two months ration in Poonch district amid coronavirus lockdown. The ration will be provided to around 1,12,107 families in Poonch district. More than 60,000 families have already been supplied two months ration and rest of the families will be given ration within a week. Surat doctor allegedly threatened, abused by neighbours of spreading corona infection

Surat (Gujarat), Apr 07 (ANI): Amid growing threats of coronavirus, a doctor from Surat has faced alleged attack and verbal spat from her neighbours of spreading the virus. She had filed a complaint against her neighbours to the police. Speaking to ANI, the victim told, "My neighbours have told me told me that I shouldn't return home from hospital as I must've got infected with COVID-19. They verbally abused and threatened me. Police has extended their support to me. Due to COVID-19 crisis, there's lot of pressure at hospital."

Lioness gives birth to 3 cubs in Junagadh's Sakkarbaug Zoological Garden

Three lionesses gave birth to around nine cubs in Sakkarbaug Zoological Garden and Ambardi Safari Park. A lioness D-3 gave birth to three cubs in Sakkarbaug Zoological Garden.
