Community transmission of COVID-19 has not started in India: ICMR

New Delhi, Mar 19(ANI): Indian Council of Medical Research's (ICMR) Director General, Balram Bhargava, informed that community spread of COVID-19 has not yet started in India. He said that a random sampling study of community transmission of around 820 samples from 50 sites was conducted. "They have come negative, though we will scale it up," added Balram Bhargava.

Private transport vehicles will be disinfected at bus depots from 10 am-6 pm daily for free: Delhi CM

New Delhi, Mar 19 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on March 19 informed that all state buses, Inter State Bus Terminals and metro trains are being disinfected on a daily basis. Private transport vehicles will also be disinfected at every bus depots from 10 am to 6 pm daily free of cost.

Coronavirus: Govt forced to arrest stamped people if they don't home quarantine themselves, says Kejriwal

New Delhi Mar 19 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on March 19 informed that state government is forced to arrest and lodge FIR against stamped people to whom it said to remain in home quarantine. "We have started stamping people who have been asked to remain in home quarantine upon their arrival in India. There are instances of such people fleeing home. If such persons don't keep themselves in quarantine, government will be forced to arrest them and lodge FIR against them," said Kejriwal. He added that all the restaurants in Delhi will be closed till March 31. "Eating at restaurants will be prohibited but take away of foods or delivery of food will continue," added Kejriwal.

Devotional practices suspended at all Delhi churches in wake of pandemic coronavirus

New Delhi, Mar 19 (ANI): Father Robinson, Secretary to Archbishop of Delhi on March 19 informed that all the devotional practices in Churches of Delhi have been suspended till March 31 in wake of coronavirus pandemic. He said, "Mass held on weekdays and Sunday's have been suspended till 31 March in wake of the coronavirus pandemic. We will live stream Mass on social media. All are requested to stay at their home and pray."

MP political crisis: Karnataka DGP refuses videography of giving Digvijaya Singh's letter to rebel MLAs

Bengaluru, Mar 19 (ANI): Congress leader Digvijaya Singh, who is in Bengaluru to meet its party's rebel MLAs who are residing here on March 19 held a press conference. He said that Karnataka DGP Praveen Sood offered him that he can't give access to meet the MLAs but if he writes a letter to MLAs and if they want to meet him then he will allow him. He alleged that DGP Sood refused his request to deliver his letter to the MLAs to whom it is addressed and the police also should make a video of giving letter to the MLAs. However, Singh said that the Karnataka DGP gave him assurance that the he will respond immediately.

Quantum of assistance requested by SAARC countries crossed $1Million: MEA

New Delhi, Mar 19 (ANI): Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar March 19 informed that the Ministry is moving very fast on proposals announced during PM's video conferencing with SAARC leaders and the emergency fund is up and running. "We've received many requests from other SAARC countries in form of masks, gloves etc. Quantum of assistance requested so far has crossed $1Million," said Kumar.

Sports complex turned into medical facility premise amid coronavirus scare

Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Mar 19 (ANI): A sports complex in Ahmedabad has been turned into a medical facility premise. 46 beds are made available by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation in 23 rooms on complex. Dr. Daxaben Y Maitrak, Health Officer of AMC (West Zone) said, "First of all we did a thorough fumigation in the sports complex. We have prepared 23 rooms for medical facility. An advisor from health ministry will give preventive instructions against COVID-19 to each person entering the complex." India has reported 173 positive cases of coronavirus so far including 4 deaths.

Shivraj, Jitu Patwari react on SC's order of floor test in MP

Bhopal (MP), Mar 19 (ANI): The Apex Court on March 19 ordered Madhya Pradesh government to conduct the floor test on March 20. On this development amid the political crisis in the state, former state chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan held a press conference and said that the current government will lose the floor test tomorrow. "We welcome the Supreme Court's decision of floor test. This government is not just a government which has lost the majority but this is a government of brokers which has cheated the people of Madhya Pradesh. This government will lose the floor test tomorrow," However, Congress leader Jitu Patwari said that state government was always ready for the floor test. "We were always ready. Chief Minister has said it himself. It was necessary the MLAs who were kidnapped be present here. Assembly is bound to obey the Supreme Court's order. We are sure and ready."

Mumbai 'Dabbawalas' to suspend services from Mar 20 due to coronavirus

Mumbai, Mar 19 (ANI): Following the shutdown across country due to pandemic coronavirus, Mumbai's 'Dabbawalas' have decided to suspend their services temporarily. The services will be not available from March 20 to March 31, in wake of deadly coronavirus spread. Maharashtra has so far reported maximum cases of COVID-19 in India with 49 confirmed infections and one death. As reported by Health Ministry, total cases of COVID-19 pandemic in India mounted to 166.

Nirbhaya convict Akshay's wife 'faints' outside court as hanging date nears

BHU students asked to vacate hostels amid coronavirus threat

Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh), Mar 19 (ANI): The university level exams across India have been postponed due to coronavirus threat. The students of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) have also been asked to vacate the hostels on immediate basis amid coronavirus scare.
