Parts of North India have also received rainfall on Jan 08 which contributed in cold weather. Punjab's Ludhiana is reeling under cold waves. Locals flock to tea stalls to keep themselves warm and also took support of bonfires to beat the cold weather. Temperature also dipped several degrees in Varanasi as well. Cold increased in Rajasthan's Mount Abu too. The chilly weather will continue in coming weeks too.
Surat (Gujarat), Jan 09 (ANI): A tempo loaded with LPG cylinder caught fire on Jan 09. The mishap took place in Gujarat's Surat. Fire tenders are at the spot to douse the flame. The reason for the blast is yet to be ascertained. Further details are awaited.
New Delhi, Jan 09 (ANI): Police force beefed up outside Delhi's JNU campus on Jan 09. Several masked goons entered the campus and beaten students on Jan 05. These goons also caused destruction to the property. Jawaharlal Nehru University Student Union (JNUSU) president Aishe Ghosh was also allegedly attacked by masked goons.

He said that Chief Minister can take away the charge but it has to be approved in cabinet and then in Vidhan Sabha. "Chief Minister is supreme. He can take charge of the CID if he wants to. But, for that it has to be approved in cabinet then in Vidhan Sabha," said Anil Vij.

New Delhi, Jan 09 (ANI): Guests at select American Airlines lounges will be able to turn to Google Assistant for help with translation. At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2020, the company announced that it is bringing Google Assistant's interpreter mode to Google Nest Hubs in its lounges at the Los Angeles International Airport, reports Engadget. The interpreter mode allows Google Assistant to translate 29 languages, including Arabic, Russian, French, and Japanese, in real-time. American Airlines will only use the mode when there are no multilingual team members around to help passengers.
New Delhi, Jan 09 (ANI): A new study showed that dietary supplements zinc and folic acid which have long been touted as an effective treatment for male infertility have failed to improve sperm counts and sperm potency. The study was conducted by researchers of the University of Utah Health and was published in the journal - JAMA. Most of the fertility supplements contain zinc which is a mineral necessary for the development of sperm and folate which is the natural form of folic acid and helps in the formation of DNA of sperm. These supplements are also known as nutraceuticals are promoted as a natural way of enhancing sperm count, its formation and its movement. The researchers recruited 2,370 couples planning to undergo infertility treatments for this study. In the study, men were randomly assigned to either receive a daily supplement or a placebo that consists of 30 milligrams of zinc and 5 milligrams of folic acid for a period of six months. New Delhi, Jan 08 (ANI): Iranian authorities informed that they recovered the flight recorders of Ukraine's Boeing 737 aircraft that crashed near Tehran International Airport earlier on January 08. They also refused to hand over the black boxes to the Americans. All 176 people on board the flight to the Ukrainian capital of Kiev were killed when the plane crashed shortly after taking off from Tehran. The crashed Ukraine plane had 82 Iranians, 63 Canadians on board, reported AFP quoting a Ukraine minister. The Ukrainian Embassy in Tehran replaced its previous statement saying terrorism or rocket attacks had been ruled out as causes of the plane crash. "Information on the causes of the plane crash is being clarified by the commission," it said. Ukraine's embassy in Iran issued new statement on the plane crash in Iran, omitting the mention of engine failure as the cause.
