While speaking to ANI, the Chief of Delhi Commission for Women, Swati Maliwal, said, "I welcome this decision. I think it is a win for all the 'Nirbhayas' living in this country. I salute Nirbhaya's parents who fought for seven long years. Why has it taken 7 years to punish these people? Why can't this time period be reduced?
New Delhi, Jan 07 (ANI): Mother of Nirbhaya, Asha Devi thanked media and the society for supporting her for 2012 gang rape case. She said, "I want to thank the media, people, girls and society of the country. You all supported me. They will be hanged on January 22. Entire country will get justice." A Delhi court issued death warrant against all 4 convicts in 2012 gang rape case. Execution of convicts will be held on 22nd January at 7 AM.
New Delhi, Jan 07 (ANI): After a Delhi court issued death warrants to all four convicts in 2012 gang rape case, convict's lawyer, AP Singh, informed that they will file curative petition in Supreme Court soon. He said, "We will file curative petition in SC within a day or two. 5 senior most judges of SC will hear it. There has been pressure of media, public and political pressure in this case since beginning. Unbiased probe could not take place in this case." Execution of convicts is scheduled on January 22 at 7 AM.

New Delhi, Jan 07 (ANI): Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) teachers and students continued their protest outside varsity, against violence that occurred in premise in the evening of January 05. Over 30 people including professors and students sustained injuries after masked goons attacked people inside JNU. Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) president Aishe Ghosh alleged that professors and students affiliated with RSS and ABVP are behind the violence. On the other hand, Hindu Raksha Dal leader Pinki Choudhary has taken the responsibility of the assault on teachers and students in JNU. Government official sources have said that the claims are being investigated.
Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Jan 07 (ANI): A clash broke out between ABVP and NSUI workers over the JNU violence on January 07. The clash took place in Ahmedabad. Police resorted to lathi charge to disperse the crowd. Around ten people have been injured in the incident. On Jan 05, several students of the JNU, including JNUSU president Aishe Ghosh, were injured and were taken to the AIIMS Trauma Centre after a masked mob entered the JNU campus and attacked them and professors.

New Delhi, Jan 07 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices trimmed most of the early gains on January 07 but closed in the green with no new escalation in the Middle East. The BSE S-P Sensex closed 193 points or half a per cent higher at 40,869 while the Nifty 50 edged up by 60 points at 12,053. All sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the positive zone with Nifty realty up by 1.93 per cent, metal by 0.7 per cent and pharma by 0.6 per cent. Among stocks, mining and metal major Vedanta was star of the day with gains of 3.6 per cent at Rs 156.05 per share.
New Delhi, Jan 07 (ANI): Facts finding committee headed by Joint Commissioner of Police, Western Range, Shalini Singh visited the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on January 07. "We have visited all the spots and interacted with students in JNU. Currently, the investigation is in its initial stage. Students have put their confidence in us and have given us few inputs," said Shalini Singh. Shalini Singh has been assigned to submit a fact finding report to Ministry of Home Affairs. Meanwhile, a team of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) arrived at Jawaharlal Nehru University to conduct investigation into January 05 violence incident.
New Delhi, Jan 07 (ANI): Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary Sitaram Yechury joined students and teachers who were protesting outside the Jawaharlal Nehru University against the violence that occurred in campus. He said that protesters have three demands. He said, "I'm here to show solidarity with JNU teachers and students. I condemn JNU Violence. If VC thinks he can silence students then it'll not happen. We demand removal of VC, identification of those who attacked students and also roll back of fee hike."
New Delhi, Jan 07 (ANI): While speaking to ANI in the national capital on January 07, the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Prakash Javadekar, spoke about BJP's door to door campaign to spread awareness about Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Patna (Bihar), Jan 07 (ANI): A college student was allegedly kidnapped and raped at gunpoint in Bihar's Patna. She was kidnapped from parking of a mall and was raped in Sri Krishna Puri area of Patna. While speaking to ANI, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Gardanibagh Women Police Station, Aarti Jaiswal said, "We have registered an FIR and further action is being taken." "Investigation is underway in this case," she added.

New Delhi, Jan 07 (ANI): Jawaharlal Nehru University Vice Chancellor Jagadesh Kumar reacted over the violence that took place inside the campus on January 05. "The incident that took place on Sunday, Jan 05, is unfortunate. Our campus is known for debates and discussions to resolve to any issues. Violence is not a solution. We will find every opportunity to make sure that normalcy returns to the University," said M Jagadesh Kumar. "The registration process has been restarted. Students can register for the winter semester now. Let us make a new beginning and put the past behind" added the VC.

"We are waiting for the court's order on execution of death warrants. The convicts have no appeals pending now," said Nirbhaya's Mother. A Delhi court to pronounce order today on the plea of parents of 2012 Delhi gang-rape victim seeking to expedite the procedure to hang all 4 convicted in the case and also seeking issuance of death warrant against them. Meanwhile, prosecutor urged the court to issue death warrants to convicts. Court informed by the lawyers of convicts that they are in the process of filing curative plea.
New Delhi, Jan 07 (ANI): Deputy Commissioner of Police (South West) Delhi, Devender Arya said that no fresh incident has been reported from any part of the Jawaharlal Nehru University. "Active deployment of police to continue both inside and outside the University," DCP further added.
