Internet services to resume in JandK soon: Ram Madhav

Jammu, Dec 28 (ANI): National General Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Ram Madhav said that the internet services will soon be resumed in Jammu region and Kashmir valley as situation becomes 'favourable'. Internet services have resumed in Kargil from today (December 27). However, while talking on house arrested leaders of Jammu and Kashmir, BJP leader Ram Madhav said, "Four months ago, a large number of people were put under preventive detention. But, today, only 30-32 prominent leaders are under preventive detention and in total the number is less than 100."

Public comments invited for mandating BS-VI level emission norms for quadricycles

New Delhi, Dec 27 (ANI): The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has invited suggestions and comments for the proposed amendment of Rule 115 to mandate BS-VI level emission norms for quadricycle from April 1 next year. A quadricycle is a four-wheeler, which is smaller and lighter than passenger car. The present emission norms for quadricycle are Bharat Stage IV. The proposed emission limits in BS-VI are in line with Euro 5 mass emission guidelines which will be applicable from January 01, 2020, in Europe. Various testing, including those related to durability, will be as per Europe quadricycle norms. Threshold limits for emission pollutants, conformity of production frequency and sampling plan have been proposed. The government is gathering comments and suggestions on the draft notification before finalising it. To tackle vehicular pollution, the government has asked automobile companies to upgrade to BS-VI emission norms April 2020 onwards.

People stage protest demanding release of Bhim Army chief

New Delhi, Dec 27 (ANI): People staged a protest in Jor Bagh on December 27, demanding release of Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad. Speaking on the law and order situation in area, Parvinder Singh, Additional DCP Delhi South said, "Situation is peaceful here (in Jor Bagh), there is gathering of 50-60 people only. They have been requested to disperse from here. So far, they are adhering to the instructions given." Meanwhile, police detained protesters from outside Uttar Pradesh Bhawan in national capital.

LT Foods inaugurates manufacturing facility at Sonepat

New Delhi, Dec 27 (ANI): Daawat Kameda India Pvt Ltd, 51:49 joint venture between LT Foods and Kameda Seika of Japan, inaugurated a new manufacturing facility at Sonepat on Friday. LT Foods is a leading rice-based food company with global brands of Basmati like Daawat and Royal, and other specialty rice, organic foods, and rice-based convenience products. Kameda Seika, a Japanese snack food major, had formed the joint venture in 2017 to manufacture rice-based premium snacks in India. Based on changing consumer needs, preferences and demand for healthy snacks, Kameda Seika ventured into the premium snacks category with its rice-based snacks 'Kari Kari.' After the test launch in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, and Bangalore across Modern Trade Stores, the joint venture company will now manufacture these rice-based snacks India at the new facility in Sonepat. Committee set up to investigate controversial question paper in Jiwaji University

Gwalior (MP), Dec 27 (ANI): A committee was set up to investigate the controversial question paper of Post Graduation examination in Madhya Pradesh's Jiwaji University. It's a goodbye for 1999 Kargil war hero'MiG-27'

Veteran Air Force officers along with serving ones took part in the ceremony. Equities trade higher on global cues, PSU banks rally in opening session

New Delhi, Dec 27 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices were buoyant during early hours on Friday in line with Asian markets as investors hoped that the US-China trade deal will soon be signed. At 10:15 am, the BSE S and P Sensex was up by 195 points to 41,359 while the Nifty 50 edged higher by 54 points at 12,181. Apart from Nifty IT and metal, all sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the green. Nifty PSU bank jumped by 2.62 per cent. Nifty financial service gained by half per cent while auto ticked up by 0.6 per cent. Among stocks, State Bank of India rose by 2.12 per cent to Rs 336.85 per share while Yes Bank and Axis Bank moved up by 1.3 per cent and 1.1 per cent respectively. Index heavyweight Reliance Industries jumped by 1.2 per cent to Rs 1,533.70 per share. The other prominent gainers were Zee Entertainment, Power Grid Corporation, Cipla, Bharti Airtel, Adani Ports and UPL.
