Varanasi/ Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh), Aug 27 (ANI): Vegetable prices have shot up this month in Varanasi as the supply was disrupted due to floods in major cultivating regions. Especially the prices of onions and tomatoes are soaring high in the market. A local said, "Prices of vegetable keeps fluctuating. Prices of tomatoes and onions have increased." Several states have been severely affected due to floods owing to incessant rains.
Bhubaneswar (Odisha), Aug 27 (ANI): Odisha is a state which is rich with culture and folk art. In order to promote folk art in state, Department of Culture has taken a unique initiative. Folk dance and art of Odisha will be performed on 26th of every month. At least 2-3 folk art performances will take place every month. The ongoing programme will bring enormous opportunities to artists in state. Principal Secretary of Odia Language Literature and Culture Department, Manoranjan Panigrahy said, "Every month, we will be performing 2-3 folk art performances. In Odisha, we have 471 art groups. And we have more than 1 lakh artists. The purpose of today's programme will be to perform it every month."
Aligarh (UP), Aug 27 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh government had set up 'smart dustbins' under PM Modi's 'Smart Cities Mission' to make Aligarh, a smart city. Smart dustbins worth lakhs were set up almost a year ago. Administration didn't pay attention to these dustbins and hence, couldn't fulfill its motive. One of the locals said, "Govt had set up around 5 smart dustbins worth lakhs almost a year ago. These dustbins were underground and hence, no one could see garbage on streets. But even after a year, these dustbins couldn't establish their usage. No one is taking care of the garbage. We want to say if Aligarh is becoming smart city then they should work accordingly so that public can sigh in relief."
Amroha (Uttar Pradesh), Aug 27 (ANI): A man allegedly gave triple talaq to his wife for not gifting him a new 'kurta-pajama' on Eid. Man is a murder convict, who is in prison since a long time. Police said, "We've registered a case under The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill, 2019. Action will be taken." Parliament passed a law on July 31 that criminalises the pronouncement of talaq thrice and prescribes up to three years imprisonment as punishment.

Giridih (Jharkhand), Aug 27 (ANI): A woman was thrashed by mob over suspicion of her being a child-lifter outside a bank in Jharkhand's Giridih. She was later rescued by police. Police said, "It was a misunderstanding. A woman saw the victim playing with her 2-year-old son and suspected her of being a child-lifter." Police further added, "A woman left her son with her 8-yr-old daughter outside a bank and went to withdraw cash. Victim, who was also going to bank saw the boy crying and started playing with him. When mother of the infant saw this, she accused the woman of being a child-lifter which led to violence."

New Delhi, Aug 27 (ANI): Researchers have discovered that raw fruit and vegetables may be better for your mental health than cooked, canned and processed fruit and vegetables. Dr Tamlin Conner, Psychology Senior Lecturer and lead author, said public health campaigns have historically focused on aspects of quantity for the consumption of fruit and vegetables. However, the study published in the journal, 'Frontiers in Psychology,' found that for mental health, in particular, it may also be important to consider the way in which produce was prepared and consumed. "Our research has highlighted that the consumption of fruit and vegetables in their 'unmodified' state is more strongly associated with better mental health compared to cooked/canned/processed fruit and vegetables," said Dr Tamlin Conner. Noida (UP), Aug 26 (ANI): Wife of late Inspector Subodh Singh requested to Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Aditiyanath to cancel the bail of Bulandshahr violence case accused. "This judgement has saddened me. On what basis this judgement has been given. I demand from CM that their bail should be cancelled," Subodh Singh's wife Rajini Singh told ANI.
