Adani Ports & SEZ Ltd (APSEZ), on Tuesday formed a joint venture (JV) with Switzerland-based leading global shipping firm MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company, for a new container terminal at Mundra port.

The JV will operate the 'Adani International Container Terminal Private Ltd' (AICTPL), in South Basin, the third container terminal at Mundra port. Part of the $8.5 billion Adani Group, a global integrated infrastructure player, APSEZ has set up this new container terminal at a capacity of 1.5 Million TEUs at Mundra port, one of the largest private ports in the country."Adani Ports has been at the forefront of creating modern port infrastructure, catering to the EXIM & domestic needs for over 16 years. The new container terminal will enable the biggest and largest container vessels to seamlessly berth and operate at Mundra. The new container terminal will be a regional hub with trans-shipment of international cargo being performed," said Gautam Adani, Chairman Adani Group.

"These facilities, along with other terminals in Mundra & Hazira are poised to serve the nation's sorely needed infrastructure shortages. Furthermore, Adani Ports will be expanding capacity to serve the nation's port infrastructure needs, providing international standards of capability and cost efficiency," Adani added.
Mundra Port also has rail connectivity to North and West India ICDs and operates double stack container trains to ICD Patli and others ICDs in NCR zone.
