Ashok Leyland bags $200 million contract from Cote D'Ivoire

Hinduja group flagship Ashok Leyland Ltd has won a contract for 3600 vehicles worth $200 million from the government of Cote D'Ivoire, a west African country formerly known as Ivory Coast.

The contract is being funded by Exim Bank of India and is pending for final clearence from respective governments, said the company. The order includes supply of trucks and buses, which will be delivered in the next 12 months.

"This is the largest contract for this country with any firm in India, and also represents the largest such contract till date for the company," said Vinod K Dasari, managing director, Ashok Leyland. He added that the company is looking forward to build this as a base for further growth in West Africa.
