Aviation institutes scout for candidates

With the demand for manpower increasing by the day in the aviation sector, more and more educational institutes offering courses in aviation are scouting for potential candidates at education fairs.
Global Events & Expositions, a leading company in organising expositions, is organising such a fair "" 'Education Worldwide India'"" where it hopes to see good participation from aviation institutes.
The fair is a platform where students get an opportunity to interact one-to-one with a number of national and international institutions. The company has been witnessing a gradual rise in the number of institutions offering aviation courses participating every year.
"The aviation industry is hotting up in the country and there is a huge demand for manpower in the industry. This has prompted institutions, in India and abroad, to scout for students at such fairs. At least 5 per cent of the institutions participating in the fair are offering aviation courses and in the coming five years it is bound to grow further," says Siddharth Jain, chief-marketing operations.
According to Jain, the company is expecting around 35-40 institutions at its two-day exhibition in Ahmedabad which is to begin on April 11. "On an average 35-40 institutions participate in cities like Ahmedabad and Pune. The number can go up to 100-150 for metros like Delhi or Mumbai. We are expecting around 5,000 students at our exhibition in Ahmedabad and 10,000-15,000 in bigger cities," adds Jain.
On the successful conversion rates of student visits into admissions, Jain says that out of 5,000 students around 700-800 get converted into enquiries.
While of those 700-800, around 24 per cent get converted into admissions. The exhibition will witness some prominent names like Johnson & Wales University-USA, Student Recruitment Media-UK, Indian Coast Guard, Indian Air Force, among others.
Banks like Indian Bank, Union Bank of India and State Bank of India will be participating to counsel on education loans while DHL has offered to provide 50 per cent discount to students participating in the fair on its courier service for mailing their applications to abroad universities.
The company will conduct parallel shows or exhibitions in other cities of Gujarat like Vadodara and Anand in November this year or by April 2008, informs Jain.
