Our Regional Bureau Chennai/ Hyderabad
Kolkata-based BOC India Limited, a leading player in gas business in the country, inaugurated its first merchant plant for the southern market in Medak on Friday. The new air separation unit (ASU), inaugurated by BOC India chairman J N Sapru, is expected to further consolidate the company's position in this region.

Speaking on the occasion, Raj Narayanan, managing director of the company, said, "This is part of our focus towards expanding and enhancing our services to the customers. This new plant will help us connect with the southern heartland and further strengthen our position in this region. The emerging predominance of the south in India's industrial development, driven by an overall growth in various key sectors, has boosted BOC's confidence to invest in this region."

The latest investment is the first for the company in a merchant ASU after a span of almost 15 years, according to a press release. This cryogenic plant will produce liquid oxygen, liquid nitrogen and liquid argon.
